| | i have both a wii and ps3, they're both fun but I really thought the wii would be a little better with all the hype. instead I find myself enjoying the PS3 and it's much more superior games in terms of graphics and realism. I completely forgot how unrealistic nintendo games can be vs. a game of oblivion or rainbow six. In a few years I think we all - the older gamers 25+ - will realize that the wii is really just a damn one trick pony. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » shhhhh... If you want upscaled dvd's or if your tv can't support 1080p over component then this cable is great. Many newer flat screens can and the 360 works just fine playing at 1080p over the component cables that ship with it. It simply won't output DVD at 1080p (keeps it at 480p) simply because of the lack of security of component cables as compared to hdmi.
By the way, there is a difference to 1080p and 720p in as far as 6-7 feet for me, I have a 46 inch. I agree that 37' would probably be too hard to see any benefit beyond 4 feet or so. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I like the way you said that Eclipse, as if you're in the know and are right. Maybe if you said it in a deep voice it would convince someone.
As for me, I'd have to agree with the blogger. I can give several references of blatant psychological tactics nintendo has employed to sell toys over the past 20 years. I honestly don't know of anyone going into stores looking for wii's anymore, granted I'm not a 7 year old, I and my friends have money to spend on the toys, but they are nowhere to be found. I suspect that this shortage will continue as long as 3 more months, because regardless of if it's fake or not, if it continues much past this point then people will loose interest and they will loose sales. Notice my prediction is just long enough to cover the summer. And yes, a thinking person might believe that they would have a huge production going by now, esp. with such old tech. | Nintendo's philosophy is to sell as many toys as it possible can by doing and telling people whatever they need to hear to buy the product.
(I hope you see what's wrong with this)
Artificial price inflation by withholding supply is a tactic used since the dawn of modern business.
In this case it would specifically be Artificial demand inflation. Although we will never know, Nintendo's philosophy definitely holds true. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Fact is... Could be that's it new and since people by nature want the newest thing they buy the wii. The PS3 is new as well, but why spend more than double the money when you can get something new for so much less.
You get something new, and all the enjoyment that that brings (for a short time) at a cheap price instead of spending a lot of money for basically the same amount of enjoyment. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » loss? How is this loss calculated? If it's an expense like any other company would have than this is totally normal. On the other hand if it's because of low sales and price undercutting then it's bad. WE don't know. These loss numbers seem to me to be thrown around so much lately and we really don't know what's really going on. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | It might suck or it could be descent. I do find it interesting how everyone here seems to 'know' what will happen to our sun even though no one has ever seen it happen to any star before. The entire life cycle of stars is just a theory, not a law. Please show proof to challenge me. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Actually, once you go to 1080i you've lost half the resolution and you can never get it back. True, you can de-interlace to achieve 1080p, but it's not a true 1080p like the original.
By using frame rate tricks you use the proceeding and next frame (depending on the de-interlace method) and average them together to make a 1080p frame. This can be very problematic esp. with scrolling text and camera pans. You never actually get the original image back, And it can look terrible.
If it was simply a matter of bandwidth there are much simpler pull down methods then going from 1080p to 1080i then back to 1080p/60 some how. I'm curious as to where this information is comming from. Esp. since there is only one blu-ray player on the market and one of the post above says "some of the players".
The last thing this board needs is more misinformation. Flag this | Edit this post |
