It was a diversion for a while when the authentication servers kept falling over.

I found the cutscenes in Bad Company 2 particularly annoying. It was like having the controller snatched from you.

I enjoyed NWN2 but co-op was always buggy, even with the most recect release. Maybe a new studio can make it work. I hope this is done right, but I don't hold out too much hope as Cryptic only appear to have made ropey MMOs before.

If the game turns out well, I hope they release a proper open dedicated server for it.

I gave it a run. Couldn't rebind my keys as the menu crashes out.

The game itself was stable, but not much fun. The guns are madly accurate. The sniper is pointless as the soldier's assault rifle is lethal at any range. The AK47 is rediculous.

I didn't quite have it cranked up to full quality graphics but it looked kind of flat to me. The character models didn't look convincing. Maybe Dx11 would look better, but I only have a 275. I think Bad Company 2 looks nicer.

Also the little fences you can't jump over, that are destructable yet leave an invisible barrier piss me off.

Five years ago Alan Wake was around the top of my most wanted list. It's a shame I shall probably never get to play it. Even if it came to the PC now, I think the moment has gone. I'd be too wary of consolitis.

I've not seen anything she's done that makes me think she's more than a pretty face. Her acting seems to consist of pouting and looking bored. I spent two films hoping she'd get stepped on by a robot. I'll pass on Tranformers 3.

Umm the root of the argument is you getting blustered for no particular reason. I still disagree with describing a private system as 'unlimited'. I've had enough of the argument though. My original problem wasn't with your post in the first place.

I do actually follow this with interest because there's the looming threat of full privatisation of medicine in the UK.

If all treatments for those who could not afford it were being paid for by the US government then I doubt there would be the amount of news coverage there is. There are certainly a significant number of people who are being left behind. Tens of millions without adequate insurance in fact.

I presume you are referring to Medicaid. From what I gather you have to be poor and disabled to qualify for that. Or for Medicare you have to be over 65? The requirements also vary from state to state.

Modern medical procedures can be very expensive. If you don't have insurance, even if the government paid 46% as you say, you could still be shouldering a bill in the tens of thousands of dollars.

Yes, I was being sarcastic about ration books. My point was that so called socialized health care systems are often accused of rationing their care because they have a budget.

Enough! I can't be bothered arguing the toss with you any more.

You seem to accuse a lot of people of 'hating on America'. So any kind of criticism is hate? You're sounding like a fundamentalist.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I said nothing about the way I think it should be run. You seem to be making assumption about my views.

As I said before and all I did say was that insurance companies don't throw unlimited amounts of money at you. What world do you live in? They are in the business of making money, not giving it back to you. In fact you said yourself that it's only 'unlimited' if you have unlimited money to pay for it. Way to prove my point doofus!

I agree about having the choice between a government scheme for all and private insurance for those that wish to pay. That's what we have in the UK. I'm not saying it's perfect though. My only concern is that no one should be without the medical care they need. There will always be those that cannot afford it, but I believe it should be a basic human right.

I guess you post as your name implies. Failure.

Umm, he said no country provides unlimited FREE healthcare. His implication being that if you pay for it, it's magically unlimited.

And anyway, how is what I said just then 'hating on America'? If anything was being 'hated' it was the nonsense in the OP.

By the way, I'm also from Europe, and I can confirm that in the UK at least I don't have to take my ration book to the hospital.

What a load of horlicks. America doesn't offer an 'unlimited' healthcare system either. That's the last thing an insurance company would want to offer. They want to charge the most they possibly can, to give the cheapest service they can possibly get away with.

I gave the demo a fair chance. It only made me want to play the original again. I might pick it up when it's on a weekend deal under £5. That's about all I can say about it. It's a very mediocre game.

It sounds good for building a quiet PC, like a media centre (accessing a file server) or a router.

As far as performance gains, it depends what you want to speed up really. If you want to speed up boot times then you use it as your OS drive. If you want to get into a game faster then the game should be installed on it. But with slow write speeds it doesn't look like it's so good for swap/virtual memory. But if you have enough system RAM to not make much use of swap then that wont matter so much.

You could always stripe a couple of them. Would that be more cost effective than one more expensive 'performance' drive?

There is another aspect. If you reduce the price and drive up the number of units sold, you increase the size of the community around that game and drive the following for the next game in the franchise.

There are other games that have got my money this month. I've ordered L4D2 and Borderlands for almost the price of MW2. Maybe there'll be a Steam deal at Xmas.

It's a STORY. It's not 'patriotic' to ban the depiction of an event in a story. I don't know why some people seem to struggle so much to work out the difference between fiction and real life.

Even since '01 there have been a few instances on TV of dramatised terrorist acts on US soil.

In '24' they obviously dramatise terrorist attacks on the US. In a fairly recent season they showed an atomic bomb being set off in a city suburb.

In the first season of Jericho they showed all the US cities being nuked.

In the first season of Heroes one theme was saving a city from being destroyed. They showed the future ruined city quite often.

I think this is because it's a computer game and violent computer games are the work of Satan or something.
