| The loot is nice, but having it as the only driving force is kinda weak. I like to call this the Megaman effect. What's the driving force for you to keep playing? To get the biggest baddest gun there is.
Though in Megaman games, especially Megaman X games, game play itself was there. In MMX games you could play as Zero, which was a completely different experience. In Borderlands, everyone uses a gun, but gets World of Warcraft like additions. Very homogenized really.
FPS shooters or RPG, good games have a good story. This game is a little of both.
Graphics isn't the issue with the game as much as concept and artwork. BTW, I did beat the game and I finally got to see a different environment. Too bad it was short lived.
My suggestion is that, it's a nice game when the price drops. If you haven't played Fallout 3, then get that instead. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Not as good as some might think. Personally, the game gives me a headache. It's mainly because the game doesn't get more interesting as you go through it. In fact, I wouldn't consider it to be a good game at all. Here's a few reasons why I say this, btw I haven't finished the game.
#1 RPG games must have a story, and this doesn't have it. Hell, the quests aren't that interesting either. About 90% of quests are essentially run shot, except in a certain direction.
#2 The environment is horrible. I know that it's a wasteland, but it looks like someone took a crap all over it. At least in Fallout 3 you got to see interesting sights. This game feels like you're moving through a garbage dump.
#3 The lack of speech from NPCs is annoying. This game does a good job with the voices, but you get so little of it. Especially love the southern accent. Would it hurt them to have all the quests read to you? In Fallout 3 they did.
#4 The game gives a feeling like it's trying to compensate with the graphics. I mean, why cell shading? This was something Sega did a lot with the Dreamcast, and it was forgotten. If you ignore the cell shading, the game has weak art.
#5 The other things I notice is the typical crap you find in most games. Can't drive vehicle past certain points, due to invisible walls. Can't walk past certain places with invisible walls. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Can you say homogenization? BTW, the word I'm using isn't bad. Stupid filters can't do anything right. Click my link to see the real word.
Any one thing that brings my piss to a boil is that games today are all homogenized. Modern day first person shooters make me feel like I'm still playing Doom, just with better graphics. How many first person shooters have a pistol, shotgun, and machine gun? Nearly all of them. The only FPS that didn't have that was Thief series, Metroid Prime series, and a handful of melee combat based games.
Nintendo was successful cause they never made the same game twice, except for Metroid Prime series and Zelda Twilight princess is like a remake of Ocarina of Time.
If you're about to make a game that's similar to another game with very Very VERY minor changes, then stop and do something else. Reusing gameplay and making new maps, story, and graphics doesn't make it a new gaming experience. Not for $50 it doesn't.
The used gaming system is actually a way to show a games true value. If it's good like Marvel vs Capcom 2 then it can actually be sold used at a higher price then new. If it's Halo 4 and all you really did was introduce a new gun then expect it to be $19 used after 3 months it's been on store shelves. | » Marvel vs Capcom 2 anyone? When a game has real replay value then there shouldn't be a used market. Marvel vs Capcom 2 is actually worth more used then it did new. That's because to this day people still want that game, badly.
Quality and not quantity is what people want. I don't care how much crap gets shoved on your console, so long as you have a decent amount of AAA games.
I think 99% of games on consoles are really crap. Once in a while you'll get a gem, but otherwise I'll go right back to World of Warcraft. If it happens to be one of those titles that probably sucks but you gotta play it because the previous titles didn't, then I'll buy used.
Can anyone say Halo 4 used? Flag this | Edit this post |

| » The best DRM is no DRM I think HD-DVD and Blu-Ray have really screwed over the their best customers which are the early adopters. Did you buy a HDTV without a HDMI connector and DRM support? Does your 21" Monitor and $500 video card not support the security features needed? If not then too bad!
Today's movies and music can be looked at like how you get books from a Library and how we view paintings at a Museum.
Sure lots of hard work and time was put into making a movie or song but today's Hollywood is more worried about making a profit then actually producing a good movie. Doom the movie cost a lot of money to make but even I wouldn't spend the electricity needed to run Bit Torrent to download that junk onto my hard drive.
I've seen better entertainment from free online sources. Some popular examples are like Machinima like RvsB and ID from Myndflame or the enormous amount of flash animations posted on Newgrounds.
Corporations just don't realize it but their best DRM is just making better movies. If your best bet was to screw over tons of customers with DRM and yet still failed then you lost. It's game over.
How are they to produce movies which usually have a high budget? My suggestion is to stop hiring expensive actors with expensive directors and etc. Except for Lord of the Ring I haven't seen a good movie in years. Go back to the drawing board where movies actually needed a story and actually needed some imagination. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Cause they're creepy Little blue men seems like a good idea for a movie?
#1 They are blue. Do they have blue balls or blue blood?
#2 There was only 1 female smurf. Thier village was 99% male. Makes you wonder...
#3 Thier nemesis was an old crazy man with an annoying cat. I wouldn't call him villain of the year.
#4 The show was G@Y! The type of mother who would let thier kids watch it probably was into Will and Grace and probably wrote angry letters to people who used the word b*tch with a negative meaning.
If we wanted to bring back more G@y kids shows there's always Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake. Man it sucked to be growing up with this crap.
What they really need to do is bring back some of the old good cartoons. I for one want my old April O’Neil back. What boy at puberty didn't love to watch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles just to see April? I know I was always excited. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ made the most money then any other film before it.
The reason Mel gets such a bad name is because it put the Jewish people in a bad spot. Also if you didn't know Hollywood is owned by the Jewish people so it's no wonder why he can't get a break.
That also may explain why movies such so bad too. Flag this | Edit this post |
