| | I don't know about Japan but I can tell you it's the same in the U.S. I can walk into any local store and pick up a PS3. I can't find a Wii. I think it's pretty safe to say that the Wii is outselling the PS3 everywhere except at Sony's employee sales. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | This isn't good for Sony. Coming out and making a statement that they are already considering price reductions could hurt current sales. If people think one is coming then they will wait. This also to me says that Sony sales are hurting and they are not moving the number of units they thought they would. Between the 360 install base and the unexpected success of the Wii, the PS3 is in trouble. According to Sony a simple price reduction could boost sales. Isn't that true for the 360 and Wii? With 360 V2 coming, MS will counter any price drop. Nintendo can too. Sony needs to continue to clean house, lick their wounds and start over. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Sounds like a desperate comment from Sony to me. If this was in impulse buy they still wouldn't be in short supply. Notice the contrast in respect from MS about Nintendo being a surprise.
Also, since when does an impulsive buy always equal a bad buy? Not all impulse purchases are bad. So even if Sony was correct, it's still not a bad thing. The PS3 wishes it had more impulse buying right now. Flag this | Edit this post |

| They are either going to use generic names or they are going to do like an all time great franchise. From what I understand if a player is retired, they are no longer bound by the NFLPA. Meaning you could use them in your football game.
Anything is better then the pile of crud that Madden has become. Flag this | Edit this post |

| You know the scary thing is that this weapon is obviously capable of much more. After all they would have to probably adjust this so it's not lethal.
Now are we suppose to think that for one second there is not some super deadly version of this weapon? This is probably the 1st step towards a real disintegration weapon. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Why? Why would they? It's almost a guaranteed lock this movie will make a ton even if it doesn't live up to the hype. This is about as close to a guaranteed block buster as it gets in hollywood (just like POTC). People will flock to this movie and the next one will be in the works. Such is the way of life. | | Um... they do have a keyboard and mouse. You can't mess with the OS or reinstall but that would be stupid. Why open up the 360 to piracy? I agree it's not General Purpose computer but I do think you can call it a media hub. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Dual Format Actually Samsung, LG and Pioneer have all announced dual format players which is a win win. I don't like the dual disc solution because it will limit the space for each format because they now have to split layers between each. It is a cheaper solution then dual format players.
Just like in the PC market though, dual format players will be the dominate solution. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Just a matter of time There is no such thing as hack proof copy protection. Is anybody really surprised? It was only a matter of time. However, this was pretty quick! The formats have not really caught on yet and there is already a way to get around it. Expect some home grown easy to use tools to pop up etc.. pretty fast. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Fanboys UNITE! Only PS3 fanboys would say that the reviews smaked of Xbox 360 fanboyism. I don't care what the reviewers on this site say as much as people I know who have the system. So far the ones I know have said plenty and that's good enough for me to convince me it's not worth it.
I have never been loyal to one camp. I owned the PS and PS2. I don't care what system I get as long as I like the games. Bottom line is that knowing there won't be much of a difference between systems, not being impressed with the PS3 games I have played and there being such a gap right now in system price.....I can't justify doing what my brother and some of his friends did and spend $200 more. He did and now he and some of those guys are dissapointed in their purchase.
Many of the same complaints the reviewers on this site have complained about, I have heard from the PS3 owners (including my bro). That's good enough for me. Flag this | Edit this post |

| LMAO. You notice that most of those high priced ones = 0 BIDS!!!!! MORONS. First off you have to love the signs at some stores "PS3 sold out due to high demand". LMAO. It's sold out because some stores were only getting 8 units or less. They should read "sold out because low number of units provided". Uh TARGET!
Second most of those people asking the outrageous prices are over estimating how badly people want these machines. Just because they sold out due to no stock on hand doesn't mean people will pay whatever you ask for them.
The average sales price of the PS3 is around $2000 dollars per console. That's even less then what the 360 auctions were going for and the PS3 is more expensive.
It's moronic to pay that much for something that's no better then the 360 let alone pay an auction price. I played PS3 kiosk today and couldn't tell the difference in game quality to the 360. In fact, sometimes characters looked "shiny" and IMO games like COD3 and NBA games look better on the 360.
I am so glad I didn't plunk down money for this over priced system. This will be the first PS system I am not going to buy. Pisses me off too because Sony has always been KING in my book. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Sony is reaching! First off the buyers of the core system would never spring for 1080p content and pay for it. That's why they created the core....for people who want to play only games.
Second, last time I checked isn't Sony the ones coming out with an overpriced units? So basically they are shutting out the "core" gamer just with the high price? The new MS service is geared towards hard core premium owners. Meaning the same hard core gamers who already own the premium system. So how is MS cutting out the core owners who didn't want the 360 for anything but playing games to begin with?!?!
Sony is really reaching because they kept bragging how the PS3 was the only console doing 1080p. Did I mention that now if your one of those people who wanted a next gen DVD player cheaper but now don't have to spend a crudload to get one now by buying the PS3? Not to mention the content for MS 1080p conent will be cheaper then buying a Blu-ray disc?
OMG, it's one mistep after another for Sony. Frick, what happened to the good old days of sitting in front of my PS1 or Ps2 knowing my system was the $#%@#$%@#. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Funny That's really funny because is it just me or has many of the Sony execs "not cared" alot about several divisions of the company not performing to well?????
The PS3 will never see the 5 year cycle they claim. It will be the shortest life cylce of any Sony system to date. That doesn't bode well for PS3 owners. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I bought this game and the one SF expansion. Why? I was still holding out hope for anything EA. After EA took over the MOH franchise it tanked. They own Dice. It seems like anything they touch eventually gets run into the ground.
This game is fun but also buggy. Requires a huge amount of RAM and IMO doesn't listen to the community. I still like the game but also feel like it fell way short of expectations (just like the entire MOH series).
Like the other person said, why are we beta testing a patch?! Because they have most of their manpower working on the new BF and don't have the manpower to test it themselves. Typical HALF@SSED support from EA.
COD is better then MOH. NFL2k (was) better then Madden. NBA2K is better then Live. Nuff said. Flag this | Edit this post |

| "The alternative is that the PS3 is simply another console in the vein of the X360"
What? What can the PS3 do that the 360 can't? I was a little confused by this. The 360 will have an HD-DVD add on and if the recent rumours are true, future models will come with one.
Did you forget that the 360 can be used as a media hub? IS there some other functionality that the PS3 will have not seen on the 360??
Both systems will be game machines first (and whatever second). The only thing that confuses me is how they gonna convince long time playstation fans like myself to pony up $200 more for this thing then the 360?? Flag this | Edit this post |

| It was a given I would get one. I am not so sure now. For starters they are still having problems with Blu-Ray. Not to mention that the capacity is not near HD-DVD. They still have not gotten the high capacity Blu-Ray discs to work.
Now couple the fact that most developers are hinting that the "tech" in the PS3 is not what Sony is making it out to be.
I really liked the fact that the PS3 would have a Blu-Ray drive in the PS3. That was an advantage over the 360. However, recent stories suggest that not only can you buy a HD-DVD add on for the 360 but future versions of the 360 will have an HD-DVD drive built in. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Then don't buy one. Your the one missing out dude. This update will add most of the rest of the big games. The 360 will never get to that % of backwards compatibility. By then so many new games and newer versions of games will be out, nobody will care. Flag this | Edit this post |
