| | Hmm...I could see myself dropping $6 to play Crash on my PSP even though I still own it. It's been years since I played that game. If Sony brings Symphony of the Night over though, I'm DEFINITELY there. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | The difference btw the GTX and GTS is scary at times. It really gives new meaning to the term "ultra high-end". As for the article itself, great work guys. I'm currently using a 4200+, so it's nice to see how my GTS will perform at 1600x1200. I'd like to see a C2D scaling article next, as that's what I'll be upgrading to as soon as I get some extra money :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| I still gotta call bullshit on all this. Maybe I just don't want to believe that ppl could camp outside of a damn store for 9-11 days. Maybe I'm hoping that members of humanity are actually smarter than this. It just seems too far out there if anyone has seen the THG vid. 1 guy claims he quit his job to camp out and another says he's not buying his gf an engagement ring because he needs his PS3. WTF?!

| | If they want to provide a pay service, I'd be more than willing to participate if there were some extras thrown in (similar to what GS does). I have no problem with ads when they're unobtrusive and don't slow down a machine that has no business being slowed down. I expect my scrolling to be smooth, not jumpy. Other sites have ads and I have yet to run into the problems I have here. Go to the front page and rapidly scroll and tell me your browser doesn't chug. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Kill Some of these Damn Ads Ok, seriously FS, you need to do away with some of these Flash ads. I've got a damn dual-core processor and a 7900 and the screen scrolls slow as hell as soon as I see the ads (CPU usage jumps to 40% easy). And no, it's not just FF. I don't want to have to start blocking ads but believe me I'll do what I need to do to browse without this headache. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I'm actually doing my 3rd year required paper in law school on that very topic and I can tell you, from what I've found thus far, governments are caring less and less about fair use and more about DRM due to huge lobbying groups like our friends at the RIAA. Copyright has been tilted so far in favor of content creators that it's a joke and this EULA is just one more example of that.
I've never really agreed with the whole concept of EULAs to begin with, but I'm sorry, limiting the amount of times I can install a LAWFULLY purchased copy of software on my personal machine (which is still the same machine just with upgrades) smacks in the face of fair use IMO. This doesn't even begin to take into account those who run into hardware problems and have to replace major parts of their PC. Oh well, just another reason not to buy this shit. | » Little low on the memory I'm surprised you guys didn't punch 800MHz right out of the box. I've actually got my GTO running at exactly 650/1600. I'm curious, what do you guys use to test stability? I'd like to do the same to make sure my 800MHz is good (4.5+9.5 hrs of ATITool and 1+12 hrs of RTHDRIBL seem to say it is). | Sorry, but Well is dead on. This has been nothing but a campaign of fear since Sept 12, 2001. Every increase in power the Pres. has received, every disregard for our liberties, and this farce we call the war on terror, has been a result of that fear.
You're probably one of those ppl who thinks it's wonderful that the government can just wiretap your ass in the name of Homeland "Security". The sad thing is most Americans believe the shit and will let Bush walk all over them if it keeps them "safe". Oh no, the terror level is at orange...wtf is that supposed to mean to me? To quote a certain man, 'I don't believe in shit until shit happens'.
As for 9/11, I was a sophmore in undergrad when it went down. I still remember having class during the actual events and didn't get out until around 10, at which point I called my dad and watched as the towers literally fell to pieces. It was rather shocking at the time, and incidentally enough, it was probably my most patriotic moment.
However, with everything this government has done since then, 9/11 means nothing to me. It would obviously hold more meaning if I had lost someone, but I didn't. So, this day is just another day to me. I pay my respects during the moments of silence, but after that, life is business as usual. Wake me up in 2008 when we finally get rid of the joker we call our Pres. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Because a brand name (read: a trademark) has a certain amount of "good will" and reputation attached to it. It would be like MS ditching the Windows name or Coca-Cola ditching Coke. That being said, AMD ditching the ATI mark isn't quite as bad because I think, arguably, the Radeon name itself is more important. So long as that stays, people will still know that the product they buy (whether made by ATI or AMD) has the same level of quality that they've come to expect from a Radeon product. | There's a 3rd category, which I myself fall into, and I'm sure you'll agree it's completely plausible. That category is that it's a habit. What do I mean by that? Well, my favorite character class is Sorceror/Elementalist. And the game that I played the most with that class was Diablo 2.
If you've played Diablo 2, you know that you don't have a choice in gender and the Sorceror is actually a Sorceress. Same thing with the premade Wizard in NWN. So, being a female Sorc kinda just stuck and that's the gender I ended up using when I made my Ele in GW. That being said, I also have male characters (typically my Warriors/Monks), but when it comes to Sorc/Eles, I'm just in the habit of using a female avatar. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Interesting I find it rather interesting that C2D is receiving a boost from additional bandwidth when the FSB is already saturated at 667MHz. I'm assuming you guys were using dual-channel (if not the numbers would make a lot of sense), which makes it even more crazy since C2D's FSB can only take in 8.5GB/s and DDR2-667 is already well and above that. The extra bandwidth from DDR2-800 and DDR2-1066 shouldn't make a difference at all. Any ideas as to why it does? The only thing I can think of is the additional bandwidth is allowing C2D to have a higher effective rate (since at saturation it only pulls in 5.4-6GB/s) Flag this | Edit this post |
