Why not use the Intel Core 2 Duo E6750? It's 2.66GHz, has 1,333MHz FSB, and is actually cheaper (barely, at $195) on newegg.

Absolutely, but it's gonna take a few more years before the Gen Y'ers have moved on enough for the Gen X'ers to make any changes.

Anyway, really good article. Kind of depressing though, since it paints such a bleak picture for any new and interesting games in the future (the next 3 - 5 years).
