| Your list of firsts is really a list of seconds...
PS2 came AFTER Dreamcast
WoW came AFTER Everquest
iPod came AFTER Creative Labs' player whatever it was called, big brick thing with a HDD inside.
Um... Coke and Pepsi... I don't know much about that.
Coming in second let's you size up the competition and release a better product. Sometimes it works in your favor, sometimes it doesn't. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Yes, it's an excellent game.
My only problem with it is that there's so much to pick up! Of course that's a personal problem more than anything to do with the game. After 20K caps you would think I could stop... Oooh look! a fork! Yoink!
I laugh just thinking about my character lugging around this huge bag full of bottle caps...
No, I don't actually pick up forks.... anymore... Flag this | Edit this post |

| Baldur's Gate shouldn't be competing against Diablo, or at least I'm hoping that it won't. They are two totally different styles of games. It would be sad if they turned BG into an action game like Diablo.
Kind of like what happened to the new Fallout game. It's not a bad game, but the similarities to F1 and F2 are skin deep at best. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I forgot to mention my favorite update! They have removed the auto-scroll from the textual description and bound it to the analog stick! It was so frustrating just waiting for the auto-scroll to kick in and let you read what the DLC was all about. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I like it.
The netflix streaming works really well. Now netflix needs to start ripping movies like crazy because most dvds aren't available through the instant watch service.
Avatars, whatever, I guess they had to do it since Sony has home and Nintendo has Mii. I think they look nicer than the Mii, I've never used a PS3 so I can't compare. It's interesting to see what sort of person your friends make, way more personal than the gamer picture that they had before.
Install to HDD is very nice. My DVD drive is SUPER noisy and this eliminates that problem... well once it's installed that is. GOW2 took about 10 to 20 minutes. Definitely something you are going to want to do while you aren't watching.
The layout is whatever. Definitely more stuff to do, and more ads/promotions everywhere. I like that it's quicker to load internet based items than the old blade interface. The ability to form parties and talk in groups outside of games is nice. It seems easier to find DLC for the games that you have.
If this was a review, and I had to give it a rating... Um, 90%? If there are options to turn off the extra junk I don't want to see that would probably go up to 95%. Maybe they are there, but I didn't notice them.
I'm surprised that MS did this. It's like we have the XBox 360 V2 now.
Oh yeah, and the update process was 100% painless. Took maybe 15 minutes total. Very nice job on that end. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I agree, it is kind of a good buy. 230 for an XBox with 20 GB? Not too bad. I wonder if they are going to start shipping all of the arcade SKUs with 20GB now...
Also, the memory card has one useful option IMO. You can bring your ID over to a friend's house and get achievement points while playing over there... you can also let them play your arcade games (that they dl to their HDD). I did this with a couple of games when I went to my sister's house over the summer, it worked perfectly. Just log in and their trial games are activated as long as you are logged into one of their controllers. Once you log out it reverts to a trial.
Yes, you can do the same thing by recovering your ID to their console, but what a pita that is. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The only thing I don't like about video game books is that the game designers often act as though you've read all of the books and understand the back story. Therefore they leave out any and all back story in the actual game.
I'm thinking about Halo 3 here mainly (I didn't play 1, 2 or read any of the books). Not that Gears 1 explained the back story very well.
They should have some sort of "story recap" to explain things in games like this. Oh well, I guess "Story" isn't the reason I play FPS games... Flag this | Edit this post |

| This is one thing that I always liked about PC gaming, if you upgraded your hardware then your old games ran better and/or looked better. Too bad this isn't the case with any console (so far).
That's one hell of a recommendation for MGS4, BTW. I'm still not buying a PS3, but your enthusiasm is duly noted. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Curing cancer is SO last year, and I hear that Mt. Doom is closing due to operating costs. You may want to auction your instant classic (not in a good way) on ebay and get a true graphics interface like me.
See, I've forgone your petty flat panel displays entirely. I have WiFi 90325.2z rev 666 directly shunted into my brain. I'm live on the InternetMeTube V4 right now.
Heh, I bet you used a keyboard to type in your text, how quaint. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Agreed You hit the nail on the head right there!
Vice City didn't take itself seriously, and that's why it was great.
It's not that GTA4 is bad, it's just not what I expected. It was like walking into a movie theater expecting an action/comedy and finding out that it's actually a crime drama. (spoiler alert, sorta) One with a real downer of a moral(ish) ending.
Still, it's a good game. Definitely worth playing and a 95% (or more) game to be sure...
It is what it is. You can't say "No Country for Old Men" is a bad movie just because it's not a comedy. Flag this | Edit this post |
