| | And of course Sony tried to convince us that they couldn't fit the FF into their controllers along with the tilt sensor... which is utter BS. If you could fit a tilt sensor into Gameboy cart years ago, I'm pretty sure you could friggin fit a modern one into a PS3 controller now. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Been playing for a while... it's kinda cool, but definitely still in beta. Text bubbles aren't handled properly, things are misaligned, they don't know how to put a SPACE between information so what you think is a level 5 mob is actually level 15... "Lv15" instead of "Lv 15" or "Lvl 15"
But it's promising, hopefully they'll actually use the Beta to make real improvements. Flag this | Edit this post |

| It's terrifying to think that some people will actually believe that a video game teaches you how to use a firearm. I've played just about every major shooter game ever made, and handled my fair share of firearms. Not one game that I can recall showed me how to work a safety, how to properly load a weapon (loading a full 5-round stripper clip into a real Kar98k can get you killed) or work a magazine release. Oh, and does anybody take into account that it takes physical practice to be able to hit anything, manage trigger control, accurate recoil response...
It could be argued that playing GTA helped DELAY the murders, as it helped work out aggression and frustration that would have otherwise boiled over much sooner. I'm not saying that's TRUE, but it's as valid as saying I learned how to handle my Taurus .357 mag from playing Joint Operations. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I think I probably woulda shot him if I was the arresting officer... "He was resisting arrest, attacking with that knife". "But his knife was 40 feet away and both his arms were broken." "Did I say knife? I meant toes. Yeah, I was scared for my life so I shot him 19 times. Had to reload twice to make sure." Flag this | Edit this post |

| Agreed. I admire Jet Li as a martial artist, and he's one of the better action actors from that part of the business, but I always preferred Jackie Chan's methods of producing fight scenes. No wires, no CGI, no camera tricks. Just an arse-whooping on tape. Sometimes with running gags.
I'm still praying for a Jackie Chan/Jet Li/Sammo Hung combo platter... maybe with Yuen Baio (chan/hung's "younger brother" from school) tossed in for good measure. Flag this | Edit this post |

| If you liked Alone in the Dark, it's because you have no idea what it's supposed to be based on. For crying out loud, he took a turn-of-the-century suspense thriller and turned it into S.W.A.T. vs Aliens. That's worse than having a black Kingpin in Daredevil.
And how are you supposed to know if you LIKE a movie if you never see it? If a movie comes out about your favorite video game or book, and you go see it because you love the franchise, and the movie is horrible or mutilates the material, you're probably gonna be a bit irate. For most movies, I don't have anything invested and don't care if they're perfect, but when you have a well-known property and a built-in target market, it does not sit well when you rebuild the universe in your own personal image. | 'I really did try'... except for the multiple times foreign governments called up and said 'we got him, you want him'? Apparently the answer was 'eh, not really, but thanks for the offer.' That, and the military intelligence unit that spotted the 9/11 cell in Sept. 2000, reported that they were Al Queda and gonna blow some stuff up, and the administration response was 'well, they haven't done anything YET so we wont' do anything... don't want to upset anybody...'
Nobody should try to 'pin' bin Laden on Clinton, but it should be noted that there were multiple opportunities that were completely ignored by his administration for reasons that are really up for debate. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | MTV's Guitar Hero 3 will no longer actually have music, but will use the controller as an interactive component in a virtual "reality TV" show, where the characters from Guitar Hero 1 and 2 will get drunk, violent, and stupid, without ever actually playing any real music. | One of RedOctane's complaints was that the GuitarMania controllers don't always work properly, which makes the game seem defective. I gotta admit, though, if they work I'll be getting a pair of the wireless. I've gotten spoiled to my 360 wireless "lifestyle", and now the old PS2 wired controllers just feel so... arcane.
The only problem I have with RedOctane's controllers is that the huge buttons seem to only have a central contact and support point, which allows you to accidentally jam the buttons at an angle if you don't hit them dead center. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I could be wrong, but I believe that one of those was somehow "earned" when he wasn't even in the fight it was related to, and another he got for almost killing himself and his squad by using a grenade launcher (which he wasn't trained on) at close range on a riverboat patrol. | | Did anybody else notice that neither article actually defined what a "heavy gamer" is? i.e. "Hardcore" is not a definition. How many hours a day does "heavy" require? How many game platforms, genres, etc. I'm a "hardcore" gamer, but because I WORK for a living I can't spend 12 hours a day playing (insert addiction here). If the definition only included multiple extended periods of play per week, of COURSE kids who have no job or tough college classes will be the majority. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I played Tony Hawk 1 and 2, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Then one day I turned on TH3 and realized that I never wanted to play another skating game ever again. I don't know specifically why... but especially after they went for the wanna-be thug image, it lost all appeal as a decent game. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Let's face it... if Sony could get away with it, they could secure the market in a month if they'd back porn publishers using their format. When porn comes out on HD-DVD, that will be end of Blu-Ray. That's a big part of what happened between VHS and Betamax. It's sad, and almost laughable, but it's usually the first industry to grab hold of new technology and establish a "business case" for its use. Flag this | Edit this post |
