| | Paid vs. non-paid doesn't matter, really. But the point about the team is definitely right. We want to put all our stars on parade, but other countries have true "olympic teams" that work with each other constantly. Put our NBA champs on the floor and it'd most likely look like the original "Dream Team" slaughter of all comers. It doesn't matter how good your individual players are if they don't know how to work with each other, and that takes time. Flag this | Edit this post |

| In the high end, this cannot be a good thing for the gamer. Consider this: For those of us who WANT to upgrade maybe once a year on video cards, to support competitive advances in technology... would you rather be able to buy a $500 video card, or have to pay $1,200 or more to replace the whole GPU/CPU combo unit.
It seems a MUCH better idea to create a true high-speed bus connection (maybe a socket design) between the two than to combine them into one unit. A cross-the-board combo would actually revert PC's back to the old ridiculed "box Mac" stereotype, where you have to buy a whole new PC if you want any sort of decent upgrade. | | Not if I told her to do it. But then again, it was a female that gave him a blank check. He must have forgotten to read the user's guide for the common human female. The first revision was about 4032 volumes and filled an 18-wheeler. The second revision is a one-page flier. "Before you take anything literally, carefully verify permission for what you think you're about to do." Flag this | Edit this post |

| | His undoing wasn't in not having faith, but in believing that his faith was the operative force. In effect, he was trying to prove that HE could walk on water under his own power, which contradicts every biblical principal on faith. Simple rule: If you think YOU have the power, you're probably screwed. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Not bad. I'm not a true Madden fan, but I like a good method to humiliate visiting friends, and this is entertaining enough. Strategy seems to actually make a difference, and there's enough control complexity to make the hardcore happy. I just wish my opponent on the other couch couldn't see what play I was picking. | | The "Hot Coffee" problem wasn't about censorship, but about proper labelling for the consumers. You can put anything you want into the game as long as you state what it is. Take Two flat-out LIED about the content in San Andreas, then they lied about how it got there. Censorship means you can't say it. Content labelling means you do whatever you want and allow the consumers to censor themselves if they want to. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Typical launch problems, really. Does anybody remember how many PS2's died horribly at launch? I had a first-gen PS2 and it died within 3 months, but the replacement is still going strong. A friend of mine when through THREE of them before he got one that would last.
Yes it's disappointing, yes it requires better customer support than usual, and yes it has to be fixed (and possibly already has been), but we seem to have such short memories. I don't remember a console that didn't have reports of wide-spread failures at launch, but it's always a big surprise to some people when it happens. Unforutunately, with the complexity of the systems there will always be some margin of error that we'll just have to grin and bear while we stand on the manufacturer's toes to fix it.
p.s. I played Dead Rising for nearly 8 hours straight when I first got it. No problems here. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | So in effect we'd STILL just close our eyes and mash one button over and over. We love you Pete, but please go back to world-generation and leave the combat to others. Or better yet, pick up an old copy of the Bushido Blade series for PS1 and see the importance of actively blocking and incoming sword. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Umm.. it's a church Sunday school teacher. I really doubt there was EVER any payment involved. More than likely, the woman was rightfully teaching something that offended someone who needed it, and they forced the minister to find some excuse because all they wanted to hear was somebody tell them how good they were. | Some people scream "constitutional rights" regarding these taps because they believe that they are so important that the government wants to know where they're going for dinner on Friday nights. Don't worry, people, Dubya doesn't care if you call porn lines all day long. If you get a phone call from Afghanistan via a satellite phone linked to a terrorist cell, then you can expect to be tapped. The government (not just Bush) is simply trying to monitor the activity of people OUTSIDE the country who for the past 50 years or more have said over and over and over that they want to kill YOU. Not just conservatives or republicans or capitalists or the elite rich... YOU. Why? Because you exist. Don't think for a second that Canada isn't on the list as well.
Why in the world would anybody think that we should practically give American Citizenship to foreign terrorist organizations? "Oh, you pledge your life to killing me and my family? Well in that case, please do it quietly so I won't know about it until you're done, and I'll stay out of your way." Flag this | Edit this post |

| In secret, Jack Thompson is actually an avid game player and goes by the name TommyDeathGun69 because he thinks that is just sooo 1337. His favorite games are Postal, Dead Rising, and GTA-anything, has a pre-order in for Saints Row, and will totally spank you as a Strogg Medic when Quake Wars comes out. He just does the whole media thing to get free games and make a futile attempt to gain his Mother's approval.
That's the truth. Blame Jack Thompson's Momma. Flag this | Edit this post |

| With bullets even about 1/3 smaller than a pellet gun, and slightly higher velocity than a "Wal-Mart special" pump air rifle, it's not likely to cause any fatal wounds unless it's directly in the eye. However, because the bullet IS so small, it's just possible that within maybe 50 yards, it just might penetrate enough to get into a vein and travel around and act like a fatal blood clot. It'd be a complete fluke, but it's possible.
However, absolutely no "stopping" power, and I wouldn't place any bets on hitting anything close to 10 yards away, this is strictly a novelty popper. Cute though. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Read the article. It's not because of censorship this time, amazingly. It's because the government-endorsed Chinese animation studios have no talent for creating interesting characters and can't compete against foreign media, so the government is trying to make it easier for the locals.
