There won't be a "PS4" since '4' in Asia (esp. China & Japan) is an unlucky number that when pronouced sounds like 'die'. Doesn't mean sony will not produce another console. It took Sega 2 failures (Saturn and DC) to pull out of the hardware business...
Of course there won't be a Playstation4 since in Asia (esp. China and Japan the number 4 is bad luck). They will just call it something else...
Also i'll stick to my arguement that the home console industry can only support 2 players due to the market. One of the 3 will be eaten by attrition - and its NOT gonna be Nintento :P (fanboy here)
I don't understand why the new HD video formats should be just a tool for re-releasing old movies on HD-DVD or Blue Ray. Why not put say box sets of 4-6 discs on ONE blue ray disc. But that of course would be logical.
About time this got announced - was affecting me decision to buy a PS2 since i have many games lying about. It also opens another question however - what about fresh saves of psx/ps2 games on the PS3 - does this also go into a "virtual area"?
...and you of course will get the same crappy, tired, outdated default programs you have got in every other generation of windoze. Paint, Notepad, Solitare, Minesweeper, Internet Explorer :P
Many ppl bought PS2 for the DVD functionality since DVD players at the time were nearly as expensive as the PS2. This time it's different since Blue Ray titles will not be commonplace for a number of years (if they ever will be with the HD-DVD vs Blue Ray debate).
Blue Ray movie playback on the PS3 could turn out a dud just like UMD movie playback on the PSP is...
