| Oh my FUCKING GOD are they kidding? Thats a remake of TWO classic films....whats next, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK starring DMX and USHER..?
The Thing From Another World: Possibly the best of the old 1950's Horror/SciFi movies.
The Thing: Carpenters version on HD-DVD looks like it could have been made last freakin year, sans him playing chess on the early 1980's era PC, the rest is practically timeless.
NEW REMAKE will no doubt include the following:
1) Hard DRiving HIP HOP and Metal soundtrack from todays HOTTEST ACTS! :P
2) Promotional tie-in with Sony so that all the displays in the film are Sony SXRD's and everyone is using a Blu-Ray player :P
3) The cast will play out something like this:
- The female scientists are all supermodels
- The male scientists will all be nerds except for the one hot guy who can get all the hair products he can handle, no matter where he is on planet earth!
- The "Wise Old" leader scientist will be a guy no older than 40. :P
- There will be 1/2 the gore of Carpenters version. Flag this | Edit this post |

All to make a couple grand......what do these people do the rest of the time....sit around all day dialing into Radio promotions? :P

| I was working at a major manufacturing corporation at the time in a big office whos floor had about 200 people. When the verdict was read, you could hear a pin drop as everyone huddled around radios (they were blocking the then-new internet to employees).
When they announced the verdict, every black man/woman in the room let out a cheer at the exact same time as every white man/woman let out a gasp.
There were a few uncomfortable moments of silence, and everyone pretty much kept to themselves the rest of the afternoon.
Theres not alot of doubt in peoples minds these days that he did it, but OJ is an African American folk hero...football, acting, endorsements....alot of black people aren't proud of it, but they're willing to forgive him..particularly when black people have seen themselves as getting the short-end of the US Justice system for so long. Its understandable to a certain degree. Flag this | Edit this post |

| This is a total, major, huge FuttBucker for anyone who owns a CRT set, a CRT rear projector, or even people with big-money CRT Front Projectors still setup in their homes.
I've got a 720p projector, but do all my gaming on a 65" RPTV thats CRT based and has no internal scaler. This will render literally tens of thousands (if not more) of HDTV sets useless with the PS3 if the set is older than, say, 2003...when scalers began to be included.
Its the same thing people complained about when XBOX was out..the Xbox didn't have a scaler, so games that were made to run optionally at 720p couldn't be scaled to 1080i because most CRT sets at the time (or earlier) had no internal scaler.
Sony couldn't try to make this launch any worse. No great BD selection, no great launch game selection, a system that limits its use to modern HDTV sets and doesnt TELL THE POTENTIAL BUYERS that it might not WORK if their set is older than a few years and is CRT based....no "great" games due out before Jan/Feb...
Oh and its $600 bucks and hard to find.
Unreal...absolutely unreal. Flag this | Edit this post |

| All Sony needs to do is show us some games that look amazing and give us something we've never had before...gaming in HD.
Oh..wait....we've had that for a year already. Or several years if you owned a PC that output to a HD TV set....
....
....
....
..and I'm thinking Dynasty Warrior clones in 1080p aren't going to get us there, nor are "HD" reissues of existing games (GT4).
Hell there isn't even 1 BluRay movie I'd go pay $25+ bucks for right now. I'd buy a PS3 and have litereally nothing to do with it.
In a way I'm glad I dont hae the preorder....besides Resistance:Fall of Man (generic 1st person shooter), there's nothing to play on the thing. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Want to know the FUNNY Part? This isn't even a remake of Day of the Dead, its a remake of George Romero's first film THE CRAZIES.....where a town gets "infected" with stuff, people go on a killing rampage, and the town is sealed off buy government goons in gas-masks. A small group of "survivors" try to get out of the town while both avoiding the "crazies" and the government goons.
Lame....looks like they just replaced crazy people with zombies and called it a remake.
This movie looks like teh SuX. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Of course it has HDMI Well, considering the first batch of BluRay players from both Samsung, Sony and the new Panasonic all appear to be dogshite, I wonder just how good of a bluray player the PS3 will be...lets pray to God its not worse than whats out there now (at $800+ I might add).
Probably good enough for your 42" LCD, but maybe not good enough for your $5000 1080p Front Projector throwing a 120" image. Kinda like how the dvd player in a Xbox360 is functional, but not really any good image-quality wise.
PS: Sony must have lost their minds when they said the base model wouldn't have HDMI. Without HDMI Sony would be locked into NOT turning on its HD-flagging technology on BD discs to prevent HD content over analog. Or they'd turn on the flag and suddenly everyone who bought a base model would be SOL if they wanted to watch BluRay movies. Flag this | Edit this post |

| His death seemed to hit alot of people the same way John Ritter's death did not so many years ago....he was just a good guy, smiled all the time, always happy and never a primadonna, or snobby attitude, just a regular approachable guy who didn't let fame alter who he was.
You didn't have to watch any of his shows, or even think he was funny or entertaining, its just that he was a decent guy. Also, John Ritter and Irwin both entertained Children and Adults.....I think thats also part of the equation.
There's something inherently wrong about genuinely good people dying young. Meanwhile Paris Hilton just goes right on breathing.... :P Flag this | Edit this post |

| David Lynch is a master of cinema, the same way Kubric was a master of cinema..they each have a distinctive style that is easily recognizable.
The problem today is that Lynch's last few movies, IMHO, have been style over substance. The visuals are there, the weirdness is there, but the stories are not there.
Dune is a great Science Fiction work, Blue Velvet is a fantastic almost-film-noir mystery film, Twin Peaks is stellar and unique, Wild At Heart isn't bad....Elephant Man is haunting.
Mulholland Drive though.....and the one before it who's name escapes me...those I just couldn't get into. Flag this | Edit this post |

| ..and want to play a generic 3D shooter thats 4 years old??
Xbox: 700Mhz PC with a Geforce 3-class videocard.
Vista: 2Ghz machine with 1 gig of ram minimum to play the exact same game? Gamers...wake up.
You can buy an Xbox and Halo 1 and 2 for the same money the upgrade to VISTA will cost you :P Flag this | Edit this post |

| The problem is brainwashing. Yot get some radical cleric who wants to make a name for himself, he rallies his people behind him to wage Jihad......next thing you know he's Mr. Important.
Its just a power trip...the same way we respond to people in power saying things "we want to hear". "All our problems are the fault of those other people, over there".
The world needs a weekely Bar-B-Q....have some beers...smoke a hookah..whatever....to get some of this tension out.
The thing is there will ALWAYS be people who hate, and our job as rational-thinking people is to learn to tune those people out and find a better way.
Burying your head in the Torah or the Koran and saying that scripture written 2000 years ago should be interpreted literally as law (Kill those who offend you, women are 2nd class citizens, etc) has no place in modern 20th century life.
If you look at Israel...its this little tiny sliver of land.....that is responsible for so much hatered and bloodshed.
At some point one would think Yaweh and Allah would want the people living there to just come to terms, and stop the violence.
If not...then why bother worshiping war-mongering gods :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| Dukes of Hazzard was the sheet back in the day, along with Night Rider, there wasn't a kid in school who didn't watch those shows. Cooter Rules.
This guy was also in a ton of Westerns back in the 50's and 60's. Besides, his Roscoe character is one of the great Redneck stereotypes, he helped define it.
A modern day Barney Fife. Perhaps our ignorant mod would like to ridicule that show too for being "not cool like CSI" :P Flag this | Edit this post |

| I'd be all over a Shadow Warrior remake like stink on shit :)
Still has the best weapons lineup of ever FPS before, and since.
PS: Interstate 82 was barely a followup game. It was hastily produced and lacked all of the style and story and "feel" of the first game.
They tried to make Interstate 82 be more like Twisted Metal 2 on the Playstation than the "simmy-ish" game it was in '76.
The same problem plagued BATTLEZONE. THe first game was amazing..the followup was just retarded. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Oh please shut the hell up....12 cars for like $6 bucks and you're bitching? This isn't some armor pack for like $3.00, a new sword for $1.00, etc.
"Boo Hoo I hate being nickel and dimed". Let me guess, everything should be free, right? Games should be free, add-ons should be free, maps and content should be free, expansion packs should be free.
If you buy PGR3, then PGR4, 5, and 6 should be FREE because you already BOUGHT PGR right? And these are just upgrades, and upgrades should be free, no?
Pathetic..... Flag this | Edit this post |
