| AT&T actually got bought out by SBC. SBC decided to use the AT&T name because it is more well known.
If you want to look deeper into the history though, SBC used to be part of AT&T before they were broken up......so it's basically like they bought themselves. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Even though I expect things to change significantly once they get some decent drivers out, the power consumption and heat really kill this card.
Sounds like they're just trying to dump the 80nm parts they made early in production. I expect the 65nm release to come in a couple months, along with DDR4. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Instead of requiring a new line and getting charged out the ass for "4 bonded cables" or whatever, I'd rather have 1/4 of the speed (or 37.5mbit) over the current infrastructure.
The majority of NICs and routers are only 100mbit anyway. And yes, increased upload bandwidth (at least 1mbit) would be appreciated. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Waiver or not, these guys are morons. Dehydration isn't to be taken lightly, and it certainly isn't something to mess around with. Even if he had survived, there would've likely been permanent brain damage, possible kidney failure, and damage to other internal organs. Some of the other participants can expect future problems.
If they're going to beat the crap out of people and deprive them of food, that's fine, but don't prevent them from drinking water. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The only solution is to ban driving games for people 24 and under. They're certainly not responsible for their actions if they were the victims of one of these senseless driving games.
Banning Nascar would be un-american though. Flag this | Edit this post |

| The fact that this card doesn't compete well with the 1950Pro is a moot point, because they are in very different price brackets ($179 vs $250).
What I found much more interesting is the fact that this card equaled the performance of a 7800GS KO in certain games, and the biggest difference was never more than 20%. This, at a much lower pricepoint.
The 7800GS has been made obsolete. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I don't know if it's the drivers so much as the different AA and AF settings.
You guys used 4xAA/16xAF across the board in the Athlon scaling article, but with the Core 2, you used alot of 8xAF and even ran 0xAA on a couple of the tests.
My opinion is that the large performance penalties often seen with 16xAF aren't worth the negligable difference in IQ. I would've rather seen 8xAF used across the board, but since you used 16x throughout the Athlon article you might as well stick with it (if you choose to do a Core 2 one as well). | Looking back at the original 8800 preview on the Core 2, it looks like you guys used some goofy AA/AF settings in Oblivion. Apparently there's an incredible GPU performance hit when moving up to 16xAF.
Wouldn't 8xAF (in Oblivion) have been more useful for a scaling article with that being the case?? Flag this | Edit this post |

| A very interesting article. If you're running an AMD processor right now, it really doesn't make sense to spend money on a GTX unless you're going to be running 1920x or higher.
For those going with a GTS, it looks like you'll want to hit at least 2.4ghz with your OC. Flag this | Edit this post |

| It's way too early in the game to say that anybody is screwed. Sure, Ageia's first product wasn't much of a success, but most new technologies don't take off on their first iteration.
I think that licensing their physics engine for free will help them greatly. Many more game developers will start including it simply because it doesn't cost them anything, and this will rapidly increase Ageia's game install base, thus making their hardware more useful. | It wasn't Nintendo announcing this, but rather the stupid Sonic Solutions company they chose. I'm sure Nintendo would've rather'd they shut up about it, but the company just had to go and pound their chests and brag. A-holes.
I agree with everyone else though. DVD playback on a console isn't important. Flag this | Edit this post |
