Why do you feel compelled to maintain yourself in the "top 10%"? I am using an Athlon XP 2500 and a GeForce6600GT and I can play Battlefield 2142 with medium settings and Company of Heroes with high settings just fine. There is a huge diminishing return in benefit from maintaining the bleeding edge in components. I'm not upgrading until a game I want requires it. That wont happen until Crysis and Enemy Territory Quake Wars come out.

"My Infiniti key was also no match for the film"
Is an Infiniti key somehow more relevant than just a “car key”. I noticed that in these iPhone articles that there is somewhat of a preoccupation with pricey status symbols.

I would think you would need a very large bomb hidden in a body cavity to destroy a plane, as the body would function to dampen the blast. The maximum diameter of the body orifice would act as a limit on the size of a bomb that could be carried. Maybe years of diligent training with specialized tools could increase the maximum orifice size, but I still think that this would not be an ideal way to hide a bomb.

I'm still using an Athlon XP 2500 with a GeForce 6600GT. I can still play BF2142 with medium settings on 32 player servers just fine. I can also play Company of Heroes with fairly high settings, so I have had no need to upgrade yet. I am going to build a new computer for the new games coming out this fall though.

The patent number is 5,056,000 which seems to describe the general idea of parallel processing. It's amazing that people can patent general ideas and pass them off as "inventions". More info at :
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070731-15-year-old-parallel-processing-patent-threatens-sony-ps3.html
The company Parallel Processing Corp. doesn't look like an actual operating company, it looks like a front just for litigating this suit against Sony.
It looks like when a company is developing a new product, it must assume and account for the costs of the inevitable law suits from American patent squatters.
Without a doubt, the US legal system is a huge anchor on the economy and a deterrent to innovation.
You should demand the impounding and destruction of any product that uses your conducting technology. The fate of civilization is in your hands!

It looks to me that Blizzard is staying true to their trademark art style and gameplay, but using a modern 3d engine. Don't fix something that isn't broken I guess. There are a lot of old games that I wish were re-made with a modern graphics engine. Like X-Com!

The same thing could be said about the guitar only having one "string" and only 5 "frets". However, the whole concept is about simplifying an instrument and making a reasonably accessible game out of it. If the instruments were as complex as the real thing then it would take months of diligent practice to be able to play the game, limiting its appeal to people who play the actual instrument. I can play the guitar so I wouldn't mind though.

Did you expect him to be pleading on his hands and knees, with tears running down his face, begging for forgiveness or something? Apparently the 3G chipset is too bulky for the iPhone and it uses too much power, reducing battery life considerably. People would then be complaining that the iPhone is too big and the battery doesn't last long enough for surfing the web.

This brings up the issue of a company with an incredibly profitable monopoly using those profits to unfairly subsidize its way into dominance in other markets. It's a textbook example of the market distortions a monopoly creates. Microsoft can simply outspend in an economic war of attrition.

Piranhas are just misunderstood, sensitive animals that have grown up in a dysfunctional environment devoid of any nurturing and love. They simply need more love and affection and people shouldn't be afraid to swim with them and lovingly embrace their swarms.

I thought if this idea way before LucasArts!! I actually thought of this idea the first time I heard about the Wii and I bet nobody else thought of it back then. ;)I should have patented it! Actually I should have patented the idea of "Using any device that incorporates motion detecting sensors which is used to determine the motion of a virtual object within a video game". I would be living the easy life now in a mansion with Playboy playmates giving me massages.

No nastiness was intended, I just thought the size issue you brought up was definitely a rushed judgment. I think it is amazing how small and thin the thing is considering what it does . To me this thing seems more like a multipurpose internet device that happens to also have a mobile phone function built in. A device like this would need to have as much screen size as possible while remaining relatively portable and I think Apple did an amazing engineering job on this. You are probably right about its limitations on text input speed, and I think it is intended for casual e-mail use rather than high productivity, high volume e-mailing like the Blackberry or something like it.

And the size - Hell NO!

Your Dopod's size is 112.5 x 58 x 21.95 mm . The iPhone is 115 x 61 x 11.6 mm. Lets see... that is 2.5 mm longer, 3 mm wider, and 10.35 mm thinner. You could almost stack 2 iPhones to equal a Dopod. The iPhone has a 3.5" screen where the Dopod has a 2.5" screen.
Did you do this math or are you incredibly accurate and adept at visually detecting millimeter size differences between mobile phones??

The iPhone's main attraction is the big touch screen and the applications that large size allows. What would be the point of the phone if it had a small screen that couldn't fit the touch interface for the number pad, or fit a proper web browser, movies and pictures? It would then be just like all the other generic phones. I don't use the internet or anything beyond dialing numbers on my phone because the screen is too small. Some people obviously cannot comprehend the direction this product is heading in, and that is why they aren't in upper management of a technology company. It's obviously intended to be more than a phone. The phone function can be considered just one of the wireless applications. I'm definitely not an Apple fanboy - I don't even have an iPod - but to me this iPhone looks like the future of personal wireless technology devices.

"the odds of having 11 failures in a row is 1 in 100 Billion"

If the failure rate for the 360 is relatively high, then with millions of units sold, it is statistically possible that at least one consumer will experience multiple consecutive failures, possibly 11. There might be 2 or 3 consumers with 7-10 failures in a row, 10 people with 4-6 failures and so on.

You would have to sit pretty close to a 37" TV to realize any benefits from 1080P. In order for the human eye to actually resolve the extra detail from 1080P, a viewer must sit back a maximum of approximately three times the height of the display. For a 37" diagonal screen, with a height of about 18 inches, this would give a maximum viewing distance of about 54 inches or 4 1/2 feet. At any further distances, the human eye will not be able to resolve the extra detail from 1080 resolution.

Recently a lot of BF2142 players, including me, have been getting the '60% map loading freeze'. I hope this patch fixes that issue. A work-around for the bug is to delete or rename the file radial.cdb located in the BF2142 install directory. The next time the game starts it will create a new radial.cdb file.

I think this is very typical of a sociopathic personality where they have no comprehension of remorse and feel complete disdain and contempt for their victims suffering, right to the very end. I'm sure his victims' families will be insulted at his callousness. Does he think anybody but him is going to laugh?

Punkbuster relies on detecting the signatures of known hacks. The problem is that there are companies that offer subscriptions for constantly updated hacks or polymorphic hacks so that every subscriber has a slightly unique hack. As soon as Punkbuster recognizes the signature of one of these hacks, the hack is updated. People actually pay a monthly fee for this service, which amazes me because they are actually paying to take the fun out of a game that they paid for. What is the point of a game if there is no challenge? You are just wasting your valuable time otherwise. Battlefield 2142 is Punkbuster screened and I have seen a few obvious hacks like being shot from way beyond visual range, and when I complained, the guy replied "hahahah everyone is cheating you stupid cun*s.

Unbelievable. There is no proof that violent games make people more violent. If anything, society was more violent a 1000 years ago. These people are simply imposing their conservative tastes on the public. Censorship is a slippery slope. What will be next? All shooters? Battlefield 2142 is all about killing an opposing army over diminishing resources. Will future censorship committees ban games like it because they encourage using violence to solve problems and doesn't encourage love, sharing, and working together?? Who decides what standards will be used to judge "works". A committee of people who may be out of touch with modern values? What's to stop those who have censorship powers from imposing their own political motivations?
