| As I suspected someone knew that Cho Seung-Hui was having problems. All of the signs of Cho Seung-Hui acting out in this manner were there. It appears that some of the students in his playwriting class were afraid of what would happen should he one day snap. Below is a link to some plays he had written for the class as well as some comments made by someone who was in the class with him. If you read the plays you will see that this guy was really messed up in his head.
I obtained this link from CNN.com:

As I said yesterday, we all need to really reach out and help those that we might suspect are having mental issues..... Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I have to agree with you. I'm not sure why they considered it an isolated case. If 2 people are murdered and the gunman is on the loose then how can you assume its isolated? You should assume that he is armed and dangerous and out to kill more people. It took way too long for students to be notified of the shootings. Flag this | Edit this post |

| First of all and most importantly, my deepest condolences and sympathies go out to the families and victims affected by this tragedy. This is by far one of the saddest things I have ever heard in my life.
I am a Virginia Tech Alumni that graduated with an undergraduate degree and masters in Accounting and Information Systems in July 2006. I went to VT for six years and during those six years there was never a reason to be worried for your life or even worried about crime. I rarely locked the doors to my car or apartment when I was there; that’s how safe I felt. In my mind, "these kinds of things just didn't happen in Blacksburg." And then reality struck in August of 2006 when an inmate broke out of jail and killed two people in Blacksburg. As if this wasn't enough of a shock for the community, now this tragedy has occurred. Luckily for me all of the people that I know that are still at VT are safe and unharmed. However, when you go to Virginia Tech and become a Hokie you become part of a family. You have a special bond that you share with every other person you meet in your life that is a Hokie. It doesn't matter if you knew them while you were in school or not. Today I feel as though I've lost members of my family and my heart goes out to everyone affected by this tragedy.
I rarely post anything here at Firingsquad even though I've been coming to this site for at least 8 years now. I know that there are some idiots here because I read most of the comments that people leave. I ask that those people who only have negative and hurtful remarks to say please keep them to yourself out of respect for those who have died today in not only the worst school shooting in U.S. history, but also the worst mass shooting in U.S. history.
I think that this tragedy should speak of the importance helping someone who you might think is going through some mental issues. There is no doubt in my mind that people who knew the gunman knew that he was having some problems. We all must do a better job at reaching out to those who we know are having these kinds of issues.
George
P.S. We all know this has nothing to do with video game violence. It’s a lot deeper than that. And one last thing if this turns out to be one of the reasons why this guy did this..a girl is NEVER a reason to kill anyone. Flag this | Edit this post |
