| Isn't xbox live for your entire collection of xbox games? And it's only 7.99/month. If every game I played on the pc charged me a fee I would stop playing games.
And just what premium service can you offer for multiplayer rts? Not much except ladder and ranking stuff, but they've had that in place for so long I really don't see it as justification for a monthly charge. They might get money-hungry though and think something up. Flag this | Edit this post |

| i know i noticed a HUGE performance jump when i plopped in my x2 to replace my single core opteron running at the same speed [edit: 2.6ghz].
previously i was too lazy to swap out the chip from my other machine to my gaming rig, but with all the hiccups supcom was giving i had to try. boy am i glad i did. i bet it'd scream on a quad core. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » incremental upgrades this doesn't really have anything to do with the article, but you know you don't have to buy a 400 dollar video card every time you upgrade right? a 110 dollar 7900 gs would be fine right now and if you upgraded with the midrange solution every year and a half or so you could stay up to date instead of having to sit out entire generations of games. just saying... | » agreed psychonauts is a pretty original little title. i've really enjoyed the time i've spent with it and would hate to see the creaters get canned.
if they find another outlet for their talents that'll show off their handiwork a little better then i'm all for it. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » just an idea for the squad hey with all of the lag issues on titan mode could you guys at firingsquad try out a few rounds with a killernic in your system? not that i would go and toss out 250 to make bf2142 playable on titans, but i'm just kinda curious what kind of impact packet optimization and such would have on performance in a game whose netcode is coded so poorly. =) Flag this | Edit this post |

| yeah i admit that there are some cool aspects of the game. the mechs are one and the titan mode is another. i'm sure unlocks will add some nice variety as well, but i just can't justify handing over another 40 bucks when they haven't taken care of us this far. i'll get it when it's going for 20 or wait and see what people are saying on forums a month or two after release. i'd be willing to forgive them if they learned from their mistakes. =/
on the other hand, quakewars just updated their main page with vehicle and class info and it sounds like it's really coming together. maybe dice/ea will feel the pressure and do something about it. either way id and splash damage have a good record of keeping up with their communities so i have no problem preordering that one when the time comes. =) Flag this | Edit this post |

| seriously. i don't understand how people can bounce back from such a sour experience with bf2 and just jump on the next item ea offers. i mean i still love playing bf2 and all [despite the odd bug and sometimes crappy netcode], but i knew i'd have to wait to see how the demo panned out and maybe even a month or two to see user responses before i took the plunge on 2142. the only way a company will learn is by its bottom line.
to be honest, though, testing the demo made me a little angry that those of us still loyal to bf2 don't have "perks" like a functional server browser and friend list like they have in bf2142. these are such simple things that would really make bf2 so much more enjoyable, but they know they won't make any money off improvements to a year old game. or maybe i'd consider buying 2142 if they showed that they gave a damn about their "old" products.

| yeah i remember when the pricing information first came out they ran a letter from the editor saying it was too high and that she would not be purchasing one initially. something like that anyways...
