Our Education system needs a revision. While I do not agree at all with that these parents did, I am sick of our education system being more focused on grades than actually learning. Anyone can make good grades and still have not learned a single thing.

FYI my responses would of been the same wether male or female. The rediculous stereo type that everyone who posted is some kind of horny nerd is also dumb. Even if it were true, what kind of stupid fantasy would Kessandra be fulfilling for those types of people by writing this article. Your argument is Void.

Now, back on topic somewhat. I like wow a lot but frankly been bored with it and I play more RTS of late. Id reccomend anyone who loves pvp in their MMO's to check out warhammeronline.com and look at their videos and read up on the game, especially if you played Daoc for a long time like I did. This game to me is the most promising MMO I have seen in a while for pvp and just plain fun. I miss that. Wow is ok for dungeon crawling but in pvp I just feel its lacking. I also miss the community those games encourage.

Its a great game for multiplayer, whats killing it is the piss poor code and bugs that have remained from beta.

I agree with certain aspects of the article and to the others post. I find anything that changes the game to make it outside the realm of normal its pretty close to cheating. Bright skins for one, give me a break if your hiding your telling me someone with a bright skin mod doesnt have an unfair advantage that otherwise wouldnt have ? thos types of options and mods ruin the competativeness.

Dawn of War is a completely different style of game play. Judge each game based on what it brings to the table. Supcomm is made for epic and HUGE battles, while dark crusade is made up of one or more skirmished accross the map. Both are great games.

Unlike the others, I think this was a great article and firingsquad needs more "technical" articles. Thats why I like anandtechs site so much. As for cpu/gpu marriage, I think we could see some GPUs that are capable of runing applications eventially. Right now GPUs are already more powerful than CPU. It would be interesting to see say Nvidia release a processor that could handle Graphics and Applications, like windows.

This game is made with multiplayer in Mind so please if you buy this game dont judge it on single player. With that said, i find this news post a bit sad. I get the impression PC gamers lost another developer to the Console market.

Personally, I think the common factor usually is teenagers. Scientifically we know that the that they dont think out the consequence before they act on an impulse. That part of their brain isnt functioning completely yet, That is why strong parents in those crucial years are so important. So I do believe that violent anything in excess can damage a young person in particulars point of view, in a sense they get the idea that life isnt precious because violence, mainly excessive gratuitous violence begins to imprint those thoughts in their mind even on an unconscious level. Remember the saying you are what you eat ? I think that same rule applies to excessive violence, someone feeding their minds for a number of years combined with whatever hardship they are going through in life can absolutely have an effect on someone.

I thought your review was fine, my only complaint was you didnt list your complaints. Right away I would ask if this game has pvp if the answer is no then I would probably pass it up but that wasnt menchined in your review. I think you did good as kessandra pointed out the background sound was a little high but tolerable and I could still understand your views.

I think its good for gamers to go through that "boredem" sometimes. I do the same thing it helps you keep focused that games are just a hobby and there is more to life. With that said, it also gives you the chance to try other games, like company of heroes you said you had the demo of. That is one of the best RTS games out there right now. The learning curb is higher than shooters but very challenging against online players. Another thing I do is set up lan parties. Online gaming is very fun, but gaming with your closest friends and a few random gamers in real life is easily one of the most fun activities for a gamer and usually leads to hours of laughs and just good clean fun.

People are really funny, Goku no one in this forum is saying you have to upgrade, you can sit around and play with your old worn out machine while the rest of the computing world moves on. I am suprised how angry people get, vista has redone a lot of their code as someone said, but for the better. Windows xp had the same critics when it was released. It was pretty stable mainly because it was using the windows 2000 kernel which had been tried and true. I think vista is a step in the right direction especially with the 64 bit version to push the move to let go of all of thise legacy code.

» I agree with you to an extent
I agree with you as I am from Hardcore fps genre. However to completely close off a game genre isnt really fair either. I think one element that drives games like wow is community. Sure at the surface the low level quests you were doing are rediculous in simplicity, but they serve a single purpose, to get you familiar with the game and ultimately help you level up and then find a group of friends with some similar mentality and skill and join a guild or clan as you would call it. As you level more gameplay oppurunities become available to you, you can either go slay dragons and dungeon bosses for equipment, or you can participate in the Pvp and earn rewards that way. I love competition so I opted to do pvp. Its not completly skill dependent and can often become frustrating but just like in fps games when you go in and play your best and come out on top for your team it is just as rewarding. I will not play a MMO without pvp because then it is just as you described.
Off topic side note, try RTS games as well they can also be fun. I guess myself and many gamers have adapted to enjoy several genres, respecting what each brings to the table.

» i want to stab out my eyes
Yes i want to stab myself in the eyes because companies that have been around long as EA havent figured out to make multiplayer demos and then wonder why the sales suck balls on launch day, me as well as my friends dont buy a game til we find the demo lan party worthy.

» perfect MMO
Just to clear up one thing, Nwn was NOT an MMO if that were the case then games like RTCW would be an MMO. One of the earliest true MMO's was Ultima Online. The perfect MMO hasnt been created but one i think came really close is shadowbane. The idea behind shadowbane was awesome, each class was truely unique based on the skills you chose. Then of course the Pvp enviroment was perfect in my opinion. You were free to kill anyone but you had to be careful, if you killed someone in the wrong guild they would destroy your whole city which is built by the players as well. The sad part is shadowbane was the most piss poor coded game i have ever seen. I really wish a company like mythic or even Microsoft would buy the rights and recreate it with better stable code.
