| GoW is not a First Person Shooter...
Also, while I prefer M&K over a controller any day of the year, that doesn't mean that I can't appreciate a good console shooter.
Having said thaqt, GoW isn't a good console shooter. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I should have made it more clear that I was talking specifically about GoW2 in those last two paragraphs.
Many games will do much better if they have a PC version, but there are also some games where making a PC version simply isn't viable, especially if you want to start developing GoW3 asap. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Limits have been in place in the UK for ages. Many ISPs give the option of a limited 10-50gb line and an unlimited line for a few £££ more.
250GB is huge, I have a 16/2 line and I only use around 30gb a month. To use over 8gb a day, constantly, for 30 days must be very, very rare. Atleast for legitimate users. Flag this | Edit this post |

| How much of that $7.5m do you think is taken by the retailers?
Making games is an expensive business, with teams of over a hundred working on the triple-A titles and the average dev salary in the US being around $70k. Plus all the hardware, software, building and maintenance costs.
If it made economical sense to make a PC port, I'm certain they would. They would want their game to be played by as many people as possible.
Clearly Microsoft & Epic feel that the extra PC sales are not worth the extra development time/costs. These people aren't stupid, if they could easily make more money, they would. It's not a spiteful vendetta against PC gamers as so many people seem to think it is.
Edited for clarfication. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I completely agree that the PS3 is a much tougher prospect and that the 360 and PC are a lot easier to work between.
I was just suprised at the "only real change needing to be made in the control and menu system" comment made by Yoshi.
Yes that may be the most noticeable change, but there is a lot 'behind-the-scenes' work involved in getting the same game running on both platforms.
EDIT: Replied to the wrong post :p Flag this | Edit this post |

| Porting from one platform to another, especially for the PC isn't a simple task.
Moving from a single, fixed hardware spec to a million different combinations of cpus, gpus, mobos, sound cards, operating systems & drivers means (at the very least) a shedload of compatibility testing.
It may also involve re-coding parts of the engine, re-doing all the media assets with different formats/level of quality, re-designing certain portions of the game because of the changes to the control-scheme and implementing new UI options and settings.
I'm probably grossly underestimating what's involved, and none of the things I mentioned are nearly as easy as they sound. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Only around 1 in 10 copies of CoD4 were sold for the PC.
Why put in all the extra effort to do massive compatibility testing & issue-fixing when the extra sales you receive barely cover the cost of the increased development time. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Soldier36: I also upgrade regularly, I also have every console and a 1080p TV to enjoy them on.
The only game I play regularly on my PS3 is GT5, and that's just the prologue.
Admittedly most of the games I play on my 360 (CoD4, Rock Band, FIFA 08 etc.) are multi-platform, but I prefer to play them on my 360 over the PS3 for three reasons.
1) The 360 has better online, atleast until PS3 Home _eventually_ comes out.
2) The PS3 controller is horrible, especially the triggers.
3) The 360 came out a year earlier and it's cheaper. This means many more of my friends have it and I want to play online with them instead for strangers.
PS: MGS4 was boring.
PPS: The PS3 is a lot more complicated to develop for. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I bought Mario Galaxy like 6 months ago and I've only played around 5 hours of it.
The Wii is a console to be played with friends, the only good SP game is Zelda. Boom Blox is by far the most fun I've had on the Wii. Flag this | Edit this post |

I think we can all agree that the Valve hardware survey predominantly consists of gamers PCs.
60% of those PCs are running with a single-core cpu
65% have 256mb or less video ram Flag this | Edit this post |

| I highly doubt OPEC would ever pay up or even acknowledge the legitmacy of such a lawsuit. The USA needs to to start using other energy sources, ideally self-sustained and renwable so you don't have to rely on other countries to provide.
Also, here in the UK we've been paying the equivalent of $7-9 per gallon for as long as I can remember. It's not that bad. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I find it too easy to escape the cops. I'd personally prefer it if even jumping a red light with a cop nearby gave you 1-star.
As it is I can steal a car right next to them and they do nothing.
The other downsides for me are the dodgy 3rd person driving camera, flaky online interface and having to replay missions from the VERY beginning instead of the last stage you got up to.
The auto-aim is a bit dodgy too. Flag this | Edit this post |
