| I understand why this mode of financing might be attractive to a video game company; I just can't imagine why these go to Uwe Boll. The financing company is gauranteed the tax write-off at the least, but surely making a profit would be desirable as well. In order to make a profit a film needs to not suck ass. I believe it is now scientifically proven that selecting a random German off the streets as your director would give a better chance at a successful film. Why then would any IP owner cut a deal with Uwe Boll, knowing his treasured property is destined to be nothing more than someone's tax write-off? It's not even the IP owner's tax write-off, it's the financier's.
Even if the IP owner hates his IP and doesn't care if the movie sucks ass, why would they choose to inflict another Uwe Boll movie on the world? That's like cloning Hitler. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I was impressed by the books mostly for Tolkien's sheer scope - I can't recall anything older with anything near that scope - but I thought the movies surpassed them. Mostly trilogies are strings of sequels designed mostly to milk the cow, whereas Jackson's opus being shot during the same time frame was simply brilliant. And New Zealand is as spectacular as anything Tolkian imagined.
Still - four books about four races and not a word about religion? That seems strange to me. Every human culture, no matter how primitive or isolated, has its religion. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Cold, Dachda. Cold. Although I suspected as much given the emphasis of size. IBTC women need to be ogled too. And as to the attached photo - those things filled with helium? Keep 'em the hell away from me. I did wonder how many aquariums I could build with that much silicone. I'm so old. Flag this | Edit this post |

| She kinda looks like a man? Where the hell do you hang out? No wait, don't tell me.
I thought she was pretty cute.
And it doesn't matter if you wouldn't know what to do with her. Evidently you can do pretty much anything and be okay, as long as you do something. Flag this | Edit this post |

| In China, they’re giving games away for free.
Yeah, other people's games!
Be interesting to see if EA attempts to price according to suckocity. Let's see, rehash of last year's $50 game, +$10 for new players, -$20 for broken console features ... Flag this | Edit this post |

| One of my uncle's cows was choking on an apple and he had to reach down its throat to remove said apple. (One of the least disgusting things you have to do when you raise cattle BTW.) When he withdrew his hand the ungrateful critter bit his thumb, to the point of needing a trip to the emergency room for a score or so sutures. When asked, he made the mistake of telling the nurse a cow bit him. The whole emergency department stopped while nurses and doctors laughed histerically. They kept going out into the hospital proper to drag in new nurses and doctors, saying "Tell her what happened to your hand."
Evidently not a lot of cow bites are recorded even in farm country. Which is just as well since there's dang little sympathy for them. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I might add that I detest rap, but I like Ludacris. He's like Ann Coulter, saying outrageous things but with good humor and a twinkle in the eye. I actually don't mind when the driver in the next lane inflicts Ludacris on me. Or Hammer, he's a good guy.
Actually, what I hate is not rap per se, it's extremely loud stereos and subwoofers. Even Barry Manilow is annoying with a base line that vibrates my mirrors.
Okay, Barry Manilow is annoying without any baseline. Even when played at a dogs-only level he's subliminally annoying. But you get my point. Flag this | Edit this post |

| He should marry Ralph Nader and make amateur g@y p0rn. At least that way he's only being an ass hat for people interested in ass hats.
Actually he does serve one useful purpose - he's such an irritating embarrassment that he probably deters pols of both parties from attempting to ban violent games. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Martin killed off all the characters I liked in the first book or two, and bringing them back as reeking undead doesn't help.
Interestingly enough there was a rumor years ago that Jordan had vowed to never finish the series, but to continue writing books until he died. Turns out he did. And not to disrespect his lovely wife, but if memory serves Jordan was pushing sixty; that's a pretty long wind. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I don't follow sports, but isn't it true that Barry Bonds has never tested positive for any banned substance? Because if that's true, I think he should be given the benefit of the doubt. Put perhaps more simply, if the only evidence of wrong-doing in your accomplishment is the accomplishment, you should be considered to be innocent of wrong-doing.
Although I NEVER want to be involved in any way in deciding what Mark Ecko does with his balls. I'd rather not even know what Mark Ecko does with his balls. Flag this | Edit this post |

| In the history of nuclear weapons, how many countries have used one against another country? USA
And which country in the entire world has the largest stockpiles of nuclear weapons? Russia. SALT treaties give the Soviet Union/Russia much larger allowable stockpiles of nuclear weapons.
And which country is actively creating new nuclear weapons that are more destructive then the ones currently stockpiled? Pretty much everyone, although the USA is the ONLY nuclear power without an operable pile.
The irony that we are the only ones to have used one, have the most of them stored, and are actively creating more... and yet we dont want anyone else to work on the technology because they might use it someday... If you don't see a problem with Iran and Syria - two nations who engage in such cheerful practices and stoning to death women (even teen-age girls) who have violated sharia and burning homosexuals, and who deny Israle's right to exist and regularly attack her - having nuclear weapons, then nothing I can type could possibly change your "mind". | We at EA Games would like to request the consumer insert a ketchup bottle up his rectum before downloading a game the first time. That way getting screwed for a second download won't be nearly as painful or intrusive.
New generic tech support answer: Sounds like your installation may have become corrupt. You need to go to our website and download a fresh copy. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I didn't know about Gemmel's passing. I've read his stuff, but I don't personally consider him on a par with Jordan. Still hate to hear he's gone; I've enjoyed some of his stuff.
Jordan certainly drew out WOT. After about the fourth or fifth book the plot stopped advancing, with many additional characters introduced and some slain characters re-appearing. My wife gave up on them about then. However I think his writing so improved as the series continued that I thouroghly enjoyed reading every word. I've read them all several times, which I normally don't do until I have the whole series.
I didn't think he could properly end the series in one book, though. Just too many characters, too many plot lines, too much scope. But I'd have bought however many additional volumes he could put out. Flag this | Edit this post |
