I wonder if this has anything with CGW becoming Games for Windows: The Official Magazine. Oh well somebody else will just start publishing The Official Playstation Magazine, still sucks to see it discontinued.

They still allow critical updates, if it can't be validated they shouldn't update at all. That would stop all the pirating, Since that would put all those people at risk.
Everybody is doing this I believe. It's not just alienware. If you buy the oem of Windows off of newegg it comes with a Vista upgrade coupon. I believe MS is doing this because the PC makers were complaining a lot of people were going to hold off for Vista.
I used to care about the PS3, and that was only for one game. MGS4. But now even that is dying down with all the BS Sony and Ken are telling everybody.
