| | All aircraft carriers at the start of the war were wood-decked - Saratoga, Lexington, that era. Wood doesn't melt, but then again, ice isn't combustible. Heh, drop a bomb on either and they lose capability. There were worse problems to worry about. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Prison conditions and some provincial immigration detention facilities are characterized as poor. In 2004 more than 1,600 persons died in prison or police custody, 131 as a result of police actions.
Exactly my point. Would you like to go to Thai prison, or would you rather admit to some huge well known crime that would get you shipped back to American prison? He's probably getting off easy! Flag this | Edit this post |

| Agreed with Squiddy. If he really loved her, then why ransom her? How is 'beaten and strangled' accidental? If he's crazy enough to explain that, then he's crazy enough to admit to a crime he didn't commit.
As likely the Thai police arrested him for something and he'd prefer anything to going to their prison.
Meanwhile the Boulder Police are jailing old ladies for installing garage doors on historic homes. If you know about them, then you doubt their competency at anything. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Anti-ageing stem-cell injections made from aborted foetal tissue, £15,000
I'd buy a fast car for that price. Then it wouldn't matter how young I looked.
Evidence gathered by the Moscow police department has shown a growing black market in aborted foetuses, which are smuggled into Russia from the Ukraine and Georgia. Here, poverty-stricken young women are paid 200 U.S. dollars to carry babies up to the optimum eight to 12-week period - thought to be best for harvesting stem cells. They are then sold on to cosmetic clinics.
... that's just wrong, man.

| Mr Lieberman had suggested he might run as an independent if he lost his ticket to run as the Democratic nominee in November, and he wasted no time, filing a petition to run split the liberal vote and elect Republican candidate Alan Schlesinger.
Fixed.

| I thought Jackpot, Nevada was the last place a band would play before it died. Times are changing.
Now, any more than 30 people in one area of Second Life will nearly drag the game to a halt. The servers can't handle the load. Will they play a concert for 30 people? What will they charge? What if /b/ crashes the party, or worse, the furries? Flag this | Edit this post |

| Microsoft keeps photocopying our features, ha! Ha! Oh, we have virtual desktops, that's not standard on Gnome/KDE or an XP PowerTool. New Time Machine, totally not shadow copy or Previous Versions like we saw in Vista! And these awesome changes to Mail, not at all like Outlook had in 90's. Photos in iChat, you know Yahoo! Messenger and MSN haven't been able to do that for years, no sir!
Well, enough about our new features, we don't want the guys in Redmond to stay up too late photocopying them! Flag this | Edit this post |

| This is a great strategy from the developer's point of view. They take the gamer's money, $15 a month, over a number of months, until the gamer reaches the level cap and runs out of things to do, then he quits. Or they take the gamer's money, let him pay more to hit the level cap, he grows bored even faster, then he quits. The game developer makes the same or more money the second method, with the benefit they don't need to upgrade their servers for so many simultaneous players.
And gamers will always whine about other players who buy premade characters and money outside the game, this is more honest and more accessible, nothing more. Flag this | Edit this post |

Doesn't that sum up the past 20 years of Madonna's career?
Madonna does not think Jesus would be mad at her, as his teaching of loving thy neighbor and tolerance is Madonna's message as well.

| It's a good interview. He didn't blame that death on games, nowhere does he blame gaming for violence - I have attended several presentations to law enforcement from "experts" who argue a direct causal connection between violent video games and crime and remain somewhat skeptical.

| » 1UP Article Sounds pretty much like the usual rah-rah, go-team kind of stuff you'd expect to hear before a major system launch, but mentions of third-party support become far more interesting when you learn that many folks, both within Sony and without, are apparently "scared of the wrath of Phil Harrison," according to a Guardian source. Are third-party developers as excited and supportive as Harrison would have us believe, or are they just scared of receiving a Sony-flavored beat down?
