| If one can afford a Ferrari and someone else can't then kindly shut the fuck up when they point out that it is unnecessary and enjoy your ride you big baby!
When someone who can afford a Ferrari points out that they are unnecessary and engages in an informed discussion about why this is the case then, once again, but kindly, shut the fuck up you big baby! Flag this | Edit this post |

| IMO, emphasis opinion, specs sell cpus to fan boys and the uninformed public but the reality is that cpus have been light years ahead of software for years (Ex: 64 bit cpus are a decade old) and therefore, there is no real market for these chips. AMD knows this and so they are content to invest limited RnD dollars into directions that will make their chips competitive where it counts. Hence, lip service to 12 core cpus because AMD knows HT is just pretend multi-threaded processing.
Just consider the human brain for an example of a true multi-threaded cpu and you will see that even if you one puts HT at the end of a single pipe all still must run through that pipe. It just speeds things up with regards to queing data transfers. Remember the 12ghz cpu IBM made 10yrs(?) ago. It was based on very efficient clock syncing. HT just sounds good, idc what you call it, it is't a true multi-thread. A single 5ghz processor, even an old athlon, will stomp a 3 ghz i7 quad-core in a single threaded application.
Most ppl dont know this (most floor salesmen don't care) and so they buy (and sell) computers for playing music and sending e-mails. Hence buyers care about one thing, boot timings. Boot timings are dependent upon two things, software engineers and clock speeds. Since clocks speeds are still king, even in most gaming applications, AMD will invest in increasing their clocks speeds even if this sacrifices revenue in niche markets. I'm an applied math grad student and almost everyone in my department runs a Mac, Linex OS, or a Sun workstation (we have 20 work stations in our computer lab and only 3 PCs.) If one wants to do some serious computer computations, then one doesn't use a PC. AMD and Intel know this but since Intel has the advantage they are going to press even though they know they provide little to no benefit (over their AMD counterpart) for most (+90%?) of their users. | AMD is targeting a market in which they can be profitable. If their chip is better at a certain price point, and there are arguments which can be made that it is, then I don't see the problem.
If your complaint is that AMD isn't the making the fastest chips in the world (only 1 company can make that claim at any given time anyway) and therefore their other products are not worth while, then that just doesn't make sense. Just because a Ferrari is faster doesn't mean that you shouldn't consider a corolla.
Lastly, most applications do not take advantage of the difference between a core i7 and a Phenom 2 (more like a Ferrari and a Corvette). Those that do see a difference will be only seconds (often less) of CPU time apart. In fact most applications won't or can't take full advantage of either chip. Flag this | Edit this post |

| First, I’m incredibly cheap.
^ LOL
I dont play mmorpgs for that very reason. I never purchased equipment for Diablo 2, even though I had friends that did and it was only a few dollars for the best equipment. I just cant bring myself to spend money on video game artifacts. However, making the game free is a good idea and might make me willing to shell out a few bucks since I didnt get hit with the $50 up front. Although, since I am cheap I usually wait awhile, sometimes a long while, before I get a game, I bought doom 3 for $10. So the free version is worth something but I dont know if it will inspire me to spend money since
"second, I believe there is nothing more humiliating than killing someone with their own gun"
especially if that someone paid money to get owned, by me, and then have me own them with their (parents?) hard earned money. I might dl it just for that alone. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I cant resell the game so I cant take a chance on wasting $50. What else do gamers have but reviews both professional and personal? You are posting on a review site which suggests that u yourself trust reviews!
I don't like RPG games. I find the accumulation of numbers in a server pointless and that ultimately I am beatin because some 10 yr old who doesn't have a job, or a life, can spend day and night accumulating those very numbers I cant be bothered to care about. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | OK thx :) that makes sense. So would u say the "extra" dim slot is a feature to further accommodate forwards compatibility of older hardware with the new intel architecture and thereby reduce the cost of upgrading. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Sucks cux I loved, absolutely loved FEAR. I have played it start to finish so many times. I have been looking forward to this game for so long and they go and include child nudity and on top of that make it so bad that no one who isn't a fan boy would want to play it ... sigh.
Its like the ppl from THQ and Monolith had a meeting about how to destroy sequels to games of the year. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Read the reviews on amazon.
1) I have steam, I'm just reporting on my findings. Of course, this is the future of gaming but buyers should be forewarned.
2) They beat it on hardest setting and report that the game boils down to point and click with a few war gear selections being the primary tactical decisions. I have been following DoW2 since the beta and this has been the reported case.
4) I might be mis-quoting, I didn't get all the complaints about skirmish mode either as what you said is true. Maybe its the small number of maps.
5) I already suffer through using a windows OS just so I can game in the first place. A windows DRM just plain sounds scary.
6) I already know how to play my steam games off line it just isn't clear to the average user. (im so above avg it hurts :)
7) SSE2 is pretty old. I mean, come on. That is almost like saying,"They dont support win 98! WTF?!?!" LOL My venice core is 4 or 5 years old now and it supports SSE2.
Also, it seemed that a lot of the ppl complaining didn't online game so that component didn't encourage them in the least. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Idk bout you guys but I am reading a lot of and I mean a lot, of hate about this game.
1st DRM (Steam & Windows Live) = hate
2nd Tactically simple = hate
3rd Small army size = hate
4th Skirmish Mode (?) = hate
5th Software installation issues = hate
6th ppl cant figure out how to play offline = hate
This game is getting terrible reviews from actually players who are not Warhammer fan boys (no offense but many of you luv this game because you luv Warhammer). There are 28 1 star reviews on Amazon. I am not going to shell out $50 bucks for a game that is this bad which sucks cuz I loved DoW1 (I didn't care for CoH). Flag this | Edit this post |

| Good to know. It sounds very different from a traditional RTS and I am hesitant to experiment with $50 when I cant resell the game. I really enjoyed DoW and part of me wishes that THQ had just made a newer version of it.
Also, note that by the end of the 3 expansions packs for DoW there were 10 or so races. Now, we are back down to 4. Seems like a bit of a money grab to me. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Why are u so defensive? If what I am suggesting is so unreasonable then why are You making such a big deal out something so unreasonable? Sounds like you got something you are desperately trying to justify.
A 16 year old is a child. Monolith could have said she was 18 or 20 but didn't. It was unnecessary and disturbing that that information was included in the game. It is your response which has finally convinced me that this is not right.
Child pornography and any depiction of it in anyway is disgusting, perverse and fundamentally a violation! Anyone who says different has issues.
What is your name where do live? I want to report you to the authorities and find out what else you have on your computer that is "natural". Flag this | Edit this post |
