Maybe the "freedom" of the PC platform is what made it what it is, ie. the #1 technological showcase and dominating computing platform (from servers to consoles, everything is borrowing from the PC nowadays, not the opposit).

| Intel's marketshare is made of low-cost, low-performance, low-profit integrated graphics.
