Oh really? Then what the F are the browser, weather channel, and other "non-gaming" features on the Wii? In case you haven't got money to buy a clue to answer that question, I'll go ahead and answer it for you!

The fact that the next iteration of DS's will have MP3 and camera functionality is nothing surprising nor special. It's the logical progression of convergence devices, of which, the DS is one.

Sure, I could see owning a physical media as having benefits when playing on, say, a portable dvd or other player. However, as it is now most (if not all)mini players in the future will be playing off some form of digital media.
It's archaic and cumbersome, and if most electronic devices in the future household are networked, then it also serves very little purpose.
I'd much rather have some sort of google desktop-ish search bar (accessed by hitting ctrl twice) have a pop up dialog, type in the movie, and gettin' started.
Yes, I am lazy and I will be attending The Alternative Solutions For Getting Up and Going to the Bathroom Con next year also!! Man, this year's was sooo awesome! Flag this | Edit this post |

| Now I'm no Wii-ologist, but I'd like to take contention w/ your assertion that the current controller uses infrared to see how the controller is pointed at the screen.
The reason I say this is that, in my experience, you could be turned away from the Wii and have the controller close to your chest (ie, no line of sight) and it would still register movement. In Wii tennis, I can (and have) play it w/ one hand behind my back. Flag this | Edit this post |
