| | Not really going to see an appreciable difference in games. Anything over 60FPS is a waste anything over 30 is playable. Even in SC2, I get over 60fps average with SSAO off and in the mid 40s with it enabled. Unless you are constantly video encoding, I'm not sure where the appreciable real-world difference is... Windows 7 boots fast, I can play games fast, and I can encode faster than most, despite my "low end" hardware. Look at Tom's monthly Best CPUs/GPUs for the Money articles for the past 4-5 months and tell me which company seems to frequent the list the most? Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I thought they were releasing the 3.0 and slower 6 cores first and the 3.2GHz flagship in the next quarter. Isn't that what happened with the current Phenom II quads? If I remember correcly, they released the 945, then later released the 955 BE (then even later the 965). I bet the pricing is accurate seeing as they have no products filling that price point right now. Having a cheap 6-core Phenom II might make all of i7 early adopters look silly... | | Not sure what advantage nVidia sees in being so secretive about everything, unless they have a product that isn't as competitive as they expected. This is, not to mention, the driver support that goes along with this very anticipated launch. With recent fan and stability issues of cards currently in consumers hands, I would imagine some of their driver team have been torn between new and old product. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I wonder if starcraft 2 will see any benefit. Right now with everything maxed, including SSAO, I'm getting about 40-55fps at 1920x1080. I've tried turning AA and AF on through the Catalyst Control Center. I see a large performance dip, but see no noticeable visual improvements. I still get jagged edges with no sign of smoothing. Maybe ATI/AMD needs to make a AA/AF profile for it to work? Flag this | Edit this post |

| You can use a hacked driver and use nVidia and ATI in the same system so that you can get the benefit of Physx. A site recently proved that an ATI card with a hacked driver actually outperforms the nvidia, go figure...
Trying to remember where I saw this..... Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I'm running a 4890 and can use max settings with full AA and full AF enabled at 1920x1080. I don't see you having any problems with a 5830 for a good while. Keep in mind that most games are console ports written for DX9, so without using mega resolutions or multiple monitors, you would be hard pressed to hit unplayable frames with the goodies turned on.
