| Jacob,
That was just awesome. So glad to see someone willing to post up a review that really speaks out the thoughts of so many gamers that Ubisoft are just ignoring anyways.
I'm with smitty I hope metacritic picks up the 0 and adds it to their scores! Flag this | Edit this post |

| | While I agree with you for the most part. I will say that game production costs are increasing to ridiculous levels. And while, I'm not happy that game costs are increasing for me I can understand why. As long as the game companies are providing sufficient content in the original game and then asking for more for content that goes above and beyond then DLC is fine with me. Now DLC like the Call of Duty games are doing recently? Yeah total BS. Another reason why I'm not a fan of Call of Duty. BF3 however I would be surprised if the game felt too small for the asking price. :P Flag this | Edit this post |

| Jacob I have to point out some of the major disadvantages with the FairTax and the gold standard.
First off, the FairTax:
A) The FairTax act has a couple of problems just with its implementation. They say they will abolish the 16th amendment and get rid of the IRS. Well actually if you read the actual bill itself it essentially just renames the IRS to the Department of Treasury and only has this to say about the 16th Amendment:
"Congress further finds that the 16th amendment to the United States Constitution should be repealed."
This is not a law. Its a suggestion built into the law. An Amendment may only be revoked as an act of Amendment to the Constitution. This requires a 3/4 majority vote. So the law does not get rid of the 16th amendment or the IRS.
B) The FairTax Act is essentially just a redistribution of taxes. The wealthy the make above $200,000 pay less and the middle class $24,000 - $200,000 pay more. Why is that? Well, a person making $1,000,000 a year under the current tax system would owe about $70,000 in income taxes. But lets say this person will typically only spend $200,000 in a year. Well now this person is going to pay about $46000 in taxes. And not only that but he will earn interest on the $754,000 left over. So next year his tax burden will actually be even less. So in order to compensate for that the middle class will end up paying more. Even the Association for FairTax agrees with that its in there report. But they try to hide it by saying things like "Everyone makes more money with our system." But that only holds true as their paychecks are more without income tax on them. They still end up paying more in the long run.
C) The FairTax system is going to apply to EVERYTHING. Including Gas Prices. 23% extra on top of the already existing taxes on gas is likely going to rise gas prices up another $1 just by itself. This means that everything in our economy will increase in prices. Meaning not only will the middle class pay more of the taxes but its gonna cost them more too, which will lead to inflation and new minimum wage laws.
Secondly, Gold Standard:
The gold standard will not work in todays economy. No country in the world uses the gold standard. Why? Because there isn't enough gold in the world to support the standard. Let me show you some math...
Current Worldwide Gold Ounce Stockpile - 978,000,000 Ounces
USD Value of Worldwide Stockpile - $1,478,295,900,000
Current US Money in Circulation - $8,300,000,000,000 (Give or take a few 100 billion)
US Gold Ounce Stockpile - 260,272,000 Ounces
USD Value of US Stockpile - $393,414,141,600
If the US went to Gold Standard then gold would increase in price by over 21 fold. This would not only effect US markets but the world markets since the price of gold in international trade is set by the US value. So no the gold standard just wouldn't work in today's society. | | I'm in agreement that Microsoft shouldn't force it to be paid for. But there are a few other things that Microsoft has to consider besides making a little money on the side (which of course they are). Since Xbox live is hosted strictly by Microsoft servers then they have to pay for bandwidth, hosting space, then there is the advertising to consider, etc... its not like microsoft is benefiting from this directly. Valve on the other hand does benefit directly even if they offer it free through steam, they get increased traffic on Steam, more people buying Left 4 Dead, and the added benefit of appealing to all the complaining gamers who felt "cheated" by Valve's announcement of Left 4 Dead 2. Which I think is just stupid. I know people that are complaining and they have easily gotten 100 hours of enjoyment out of the game. How many other games give you that? Anyways I'm rambling. | | Now wait a minute... that's your opinion, I for one will buy the collectors edition of games that I feel deserve it. I'm fully willing to spend a little bit extra on a good game in order to support the developer/publisher. So a decision like this on a game of this status was poorly thought-out. | Does anyone remember Microsoft Anti-Virus from back in the DOS and Win 3.1 days? Its was actually a pretty slick peice of software, and was actually bought out by a certain company called Symantec. :P
So Microsoft can make a decent AV. We'll just have to see if they did it right this time. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Based on the fact that current Nvidia cards at 256 stream processors can compete with ATI's 800 stream processors. If this information is acurate then Nvidia's next GPU is going to be a monster!!! Can't wait!
Of course I'll wait to see which one is best before I buy, but I've been using nVidia cards 90% of the time and would prefer to stay with them. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » For the selected winners... First, I just want to say what a great idea this whole thing was. Thank you Angela for selecting my post during the first choices. I've been a loyal gigabyte customer for a long time and plan to remain that way. :) And congrats to everyone else that was selected.
How is this going to work? Will we be contacted via email or do we need to contact Angela/DanT?
Thanks Again!!! Flag this | Edit this post |

| If there is one thing that AMD has consistently been bad at, its marketing. And the down side to that is that that is one of nVidia strengths.
I myself will be buying a 4870x2 within the next month or so but I seriously doubt they will get 50% before the end of 08 Flag this | Edit this post |

| ^The only problem to your complaint is that nVidia always does a "refresh" of the GPU line then a true "next gen."
Geforce -> Geforce 2
Geforce 3 -> Geforce 4
Geforce FX -> Geforce 6
The only reason they did not do a refresh of the 7 series was because of the drastic changes to the architecture that were needed for DX10. So the fact that nVidia and ATI both released concurrent "next-gen" cards was only because of a change in the industry not because that will become the norm.
Besides with the performance aspect of the 9600GTS, the 9 series is looking like it is really gonna kick ass. :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | So far there has only been 1 patch... And except for the performance on high end settings the game is very well made. Performance will be much better on the next generation GPUs, just like with FarCry. If you want to talk about patches look at a game like Battlefield 2. Flag this | Edit this post |

| "You take away the games, and these people are still going to kill someone."
Thats precisely it... I'm sure there are people out there that haven't killed anyone because they could take their frustrations out in a game instead of in real life. We should conduct a study... Flag this | Edit this post |
