| » post in game settings please this card, as well as the 512mb version, is confusing the hell out of me. It's apparent that AA beats the crap out of the HD2900XT, but I want to know if HDR does too, or what grass effects do. If you wouldn't mind posting what settings you selected in game from now on, I'd be much appreciated. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » you confused the hell outta me... So, I read your artical, it confused the hell outta me. I thought maybe my facts were off so i went to good ol' wiki. I thought I knew alot about raid, but it all turned out to be ALL wrong :S. And I've been sellin PCs for 3 years now... thats not good.
Anyways, I revert myself back to raid n00b.
but wouldn't raid 1 be the best configuration for games? I mean, even if it was as simple as, read requests 1,3,5,7,9... are sent to Hard Drive A, and read requests 2,4,6,8,10... are sent to Hard Drive B, surly you would see a significant reduction in load and caching times? no?
anywho, I would have liked to have seen how Raid-1 performance stacked up against what you were doing.
On to google I Guess...
anyways, well writting, would have liked to have seen this make the finals. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » severe issues with 8800GTS and Vista I think STALKER has two issues with my rig. 1: Vistas aggressive Pre-caching is consuming all the ram, and vista is bumping Stalker data off onto the page file. Removing the page file and setting stalker to a higher priority helped this, but what I would think is caching problems continued to persist. The other may be that the alternative methods stalker uses to display the engine may be not properly supported by the 8800 Drivers. While Nvidia did achieve WHQL certification, I doubt they have all the kinks worked out. This theory is further proven by THQ's passing-the-buck wording on the issue.
Anywho, when I bought the game, I gave myself a 75% chance it would fail in game. I knew the risks, and I knew this is what I would get for being on the razors edge of technology. Flag this | Edit this post |

| My vote goes to this guy.
Short, generic, funny, interesting.
Short in both senses: It could be longer, but I was happy i didnt have to read through paragraphs that were thesis sized.
Generic is good too. No one gave you anything specific to look at so you look at the history of cooling --full marks.
good use of humor, some of the competition was, sad...
I didn't stop reading, it wasn't tedious, again more then I can say for some of your competitors. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » HL2 testing millions of people play the cs series, and millions play counterstrike source. I am one of them. Unfortunatly, on this test, it seems you no longer test the HL2 engine. on the tests previous to this one, you have tested the source engine and its HDR capabillities. I would like to see you bring back this test.
I am still looking for a card that will allow me 16X aa and 16x asino AT 1900 x 1200. i've settled on the 8800GTS, but it would be nice to see what these cards can do in comparision. While i may not be buying an X1950pro, I would still like to see how it fairs against the Source engine.
please benchmark the source engine on all future tests. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I cant stand statements like this (not blppt, Deathbooger).
This is AMDs emergancy response to Kentsfield, and it will help the consumer in many areas. They dont want to let Intel corner the market early. This stance by AMD really helps the consumer, as it will shortly push Kentsfield prices down. $600 bux for two FX processors, thats $300 a pop. This is a very viable option, in my mind, for quad core (this of course being subject to how much the Q6300 or w/e there gonna call em cost).
This product, along with Kentsfield, is only perfect for one small section of the gaming market: those who run game servers, while trying to game. 4X4 and Kentsfield allow the customer to off load any server requests to one processer/2 cores, and any ingame requests to the other cores. The differance between 4X4 and a regular server mainboard is that 4X4 will allow for SLI, a major benifit for the hardcore -server running gamer. Couple these things with Nvidias Dual-Net and a half decent internet connection and you got yourself a server with great registry.
I will however recomend Quad core, in any form, to few of my enthusiast customers. This increased memory latency thing is no good, and for even the most hardcore gamer, four cores cannot be fully utilized. Flag this | Edit this post |

| yeah its a pretty sweet lineup
good point. it does have more transistors, but you are slighly over reacting. the R580 is a beast for power, but i dont think the voltage regulators are so expensive.
The X1600s only mistake was made by marketing, dont enter this into the gamer/enthusaist market. dont even try. this is a powerful card for the average inter-netter, movie-watcher (some X1600s do support HDCP), umm, basic CS1.6 player etc. etc. it cant do prey, dont even make it try. it was a gusty architecture and it failed. releasing the 512mb version was the worst thing ATi has done with this card. the core cant run a game thats capible of resolutions that can use 512mb of buffer.
imho, theres a gap between 7600GS and 7600GT. ones $130CDN the others $220CDN thats a big effin gap, i have a few customers who fall under this gap. the only thing i can do for them is build a pc with a 7600GS with active cooling and hope it ocs well. giving the customer a crash course in ocing.
unless the 7950GT can outperform this, and these cards follow schedualed cost, i will be buying one of these, and not a 7900GT/7950GT.
-- mind you thats a few weeks down the road, well see how things go.... Flag this | Edit this post |

| » E6300 vs E6400 great review, i will go with core 2. i was thinking "why bother? i can now get one of those X2 5000+s so cheap now" but now i realize their toast. only oc to 3Ghz top :( i like the 3.3 :).
but why go with this when your paying $100 (over an E6300 on an E6400) for just an extra multiplier?
are they're locks on the multipliers? how high is the max for an E6400 and how high for an E6300?
and i spose the unified L2 cache doesnt make it any easier to unlock it :\ Flag this | Edit this post |

| SYSTEM SHOCK!
it has a pretty big but quiet fanbase.
i never really got into the whole series, my friends a fenatic. Thief, Systemshock, and Dues X (covered in your review) are all made by the same people. theres a project underway (Bioshock) but that might go the way of Duke Nukem. Flag this | Edit this post |

which is why you created this moronic artical right? what are you idiots thinking? you start a pissing contest by flaming another site, in an artical?!
Theres nothing wrong with theire articals, while they dont offer as many hard numbers as you guys do, they do offer opinions and advice. there method of testing is fine. Flag this | Edit this post |

and that was perfect. the 6600GT, im currently on one and i was wondering how much a boost i could see with one of these things. this artical is perfect. thanks alot! Flag this | Edit this post |

| » DFI my money is on DFI coming up with some spactacular rig. they'll just make there rig, and if asus or even abit can come up with something that outperforms, DFI will just OC until it doesnt, and they know exactly how to OC.
otherwise my money would be on asus, with totally rock solid stable boards, and perform extremely well, unfortunatly Asus + Watercooling = overheating everything due to passive cooling Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Wii FTW my god Kamus i can say what you say in 10 paragraphs in a single sentance... lol...
but my money is on the Wii, even with its name... quite frankly, id prefer the source engine, and the abillity to hold the controller like a shotgun, then a basic controller with graphics like that of the new UnReal (just an example, take your pic) engine.
not to mention is just sooo much more affordable. i mean comon... $250 compaired to $600? no everyone on this project made a bad investment. iv always been a big fan of Nvidia, but any computer nerd will tell you that PS3 has been a big distraction, and they've lost market share because of it.
this is one of the rare times, where an attempt (in this case Nvidias) to leapfrog the compition [ATIs X1900XTX] after giving them a few months with the title, failed. i am of course talking about the 7900GTX, and its inabillity to clearly tell the X1900XTX to f*** off.
P.s. the cencoring in this forum is really bad. you need a new script Firingsquad. i cant say T i T l e. why? because it contains a synonm from mamories Flag this | Edit this post |
