| » Military Madness...oh yes!!! This has been and still is one of my favorite turbo games. I still play it on the turboxpress from time to time. They even made a pc version and ps1 sequel called neo nectarus. This and devil's crush are two of the best the turbo had to offer. They need to adapt the vc to play actual cd games from sega and hudson/nec. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Turn to your competition for help..... there is one way Sony can fix their manufacturing problems. Turn to toshiba for the blue laser diodes. It is my understanding that both the blue ray and hddvd use the same blue laser. Just a slight modification to the wavelength will allow the blue laser to read both formats. Toshiba has theirs set to read hddvd and yet they could sell thousands to sony with the adjustment to read blue ray. It may also help to accelerate the hybrid hd/br player development. | » It doesn't need it...... It is a game machine first so it doesn't need dvd movie playback. I didnt care the cube didnt have it either. Like others have said. If you don't already have a dedicated dvd player then you are stupid. They are cheap now so get one and get the wii for games. I did like the fact that the cube could do divx in certain games. Namely the rouge squadron ones had great divx video clips. Excelent quality and so I think there was also a homebrew app that allowed divx movie playback on the mini dvd-r's. | | I am still using a 754 sempron 2800 that i oc'd to 2.0ghz and it works fine with stock cooling. I have no desire at this time to upgrade my whole pc so if I was in the market for a quick upgrade I could go for a 754 3700+. I have slipped away from PC gaming a bit since getting a 360. | | Does uninstalling said software void any type of warranty you may need service on? I generally uninstall the demo software Dell includes and update the xp home edition with our companies corp version of xp pro. Having a volume license key really helps out but just wasnt sure if it voids the warranty from Dell. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I can remember when the 3do came out at a $600 price but then it was worth it because there really was nothing that could come close. With the ps3, the 360 is equal in every way except for blueray. I dont think that will work to sony's advantage because they can't just drop making dvd movies in light of blueray. so people will still be able to get the latest movies on dvd add in the fact that there are players now with hdmi that can upscale to higher res for less than the price of a new blueray or hd dvd player. I dont care for playing anything but games in my consoles. Even if i were to get a ps3 I wouldnt be getting any movies. It was movies that was hurting the psp and sony knew that which is why movie companies are backing off. If it isnt accepted by the majority it wont sell. Blueray will be just like the umd movies and most likely will be dropped by the majority of supporters in favor of just plain old ordinary dvd movies. If it means no more previews or bonus features on the same disc as the movie, so be it. I am sure hd quality movies could be on regular dvd media so long as all the bonus stuff was on another disc. | It would have been better for the consumer if sony offered a choice in blue ray or dvd based ps3. Reason being is that even though sony wants to push blueray, they have stated that it wil be for movies only. Maybe there will be a time when game content will be on that media but for now it aint going to happen. So basically if they offered a dvd only ps3 you would still be able to play all the games the fully loaded ps3 would. MS with the hd dvd has said the same thing for the 360. Movies only as there is no reason to make games on hd dvd. The amount of content of a game just doesnt warrant a higher capacity media. You could almost say the same for movies. Unless movie companies want to make movies longer and game companies want to make games longer then the new high capacity media is a joke. Blueray should be an option instead of a requirement. That way the difference in price of ps3 would be based solely on the drive and not the other stuff.
With the 360 it is a 360 no matter if you get the core or premium. There is no physical internal hardware dfference between them. You can get the hdd and wireless and bingo, you have made a core into a premium. With sony, there is no way to take a core ps3 and make it into a premium ps3 because of the internal changes being made. HDD size isnt so much the issue but the lack of wifi, hdmi, card reader are all physical "internal" attachments that can not be purchased seperatly.
Bottom line is sony will sell ps3's by the truck load but it will take them longer to do so. Had they opted to make two ps3 units with everything but the actual drive the same they would sell both types equally and faster. The blueray equiped unit for $600 and the dvd equiped one for $400. Then promote the blueray for the added $200 value vs paying $800+ for a stand alone player. Flag this | Edit this post |
