| So basically, they are releasing a game that was popular on consoles because it was the only half decent shooter, except now they are releasing it into a market already totally saturated with shooters? And to top it all off, we have to pay a subscription to play this one, where the other ones are free?
Yea... sign me up. Not. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Yea.. this list pretty much fails.
No Dragon Quest or Final Fantasy? Even if there are a few series more popular here, in Japan, DQ is big freakin' business.
You can pretty much tell that no one who worked on that list had played a video game in a freakin' decade... Flag this | Edit this post |

| Gears of War will eventually be ported to the PC, Dead Rising is fun but way overhyped, and Crackdown is not worth buying a new system.
I might eventually get a 360, but there is really just no reason to yet, in my book. I say the same about the other 2 consoles, by the way. I have hope for the future, but I am not impressed by this generation of consoles yet. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Actually, the evidence of violence begetting violence is overwhelming. Most "doctors and scientists" just recognize the fact that video games are far from the only problem, in a culture so rediculously saturated in violence. Watching some John Wayne cowboy movie, reading The Lord of the Rings, or even watching a football game (which is pretty much the epitome of controlled violence) is just as damaging as a violent video game.
As any rational person will tell you, a person's character is largely made up of his experiences. If someone grows up in a violent household, they will likely be violent. If someone watches Mr. Rogers Neighborhood for 8 hours a day, they will likely be pretty freakin' mellow. If an 8 year old plays GTA for every waking hour, violence will simply become normal for him.
Obviously, this doesn't mean that he is probably going to grow up to be Ted Bundy, but it will have a significant effect on his personality.
It may seem hypocritical of me to say this, considering I spent much of my youth playing similar games, but with a little distance it is easy to see the effect. If I hadn't had some of the positive influences to counterbalance the negatives, I might not be the peace loving person I am today. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I am pretty much in the same boat. I prefer to get a DX10 card, but I need a gpu pretty soon and I don't wanna blow $350+ on it. I might just get a geforce 6600 or something to hold me over, till Nvidia stops trying to force-feed us 8800s. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I am pretty sure many of the gaming PCs on the market today are more powerful than the 360. If a port came out in a few years, plenty of PCs could handle it. Joe Shmoe and his integrated graphics chip would have trouble, but that is pretty much the story with every PC game that was ever released. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Brownback will never gain the presidency, the only time we elect blatantly moronic people is if they are either charismatic or attractive.
WTF do you mean? Oversight powers over the ESRB? They already have it, if they want it. What exactly do you think is going to happen here? This will change nothing. Besides, they SHOULD play games that they rate, if just for a moment. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Chill out, you sensationalist drama-whores It doesn't say that they have to play through the whole game. It says they have to PLAY the game, and have access to all of it.
The game publishers would outline the parts that might be sketchy, then the ESRB could skip ahead and test everything that approaches the line of good taste. 1 hour tops. Flag this | Edit this post |
