| Well, some were holding out for the PS3, which is starting to look like a miserable failure.
Xbox may assume that if they drop the price by $100 (which economies of scale, they might be able to do), they could possibly hit that number with all of the existing titles + all the titles coming out over the next year. I know some weren't interested in launch titles and it's taken a little while for more titles to be released. But there are some blockbusters expected and with Halo 3 and Gears of War, plus the advances to Xbox live, it's looking feasible. Flag this | Edit this post |

| O yes, they don't know how to "retrench"... or... it could be the fact that everyone who knows has been telling everyone they know to wait for Conroe to be released...

| $150 minimum non-refundable deposit. That way when they raise the price to $1000, you've got to either pay or lose your deposit.
Brilliant, although it may not be non-refundable, but wouldn't that be one hell of a kicker?

| I was actually looking forward to getting a PS3, then they announced the price of the unit ($600), then they announced the price of the games ($70-$90), and then I saw the games and couldn't tell a difference between them and 360 games.

| I've tried twice, I can't get it to install.
I downloaded it, burned it to DVD at 4X
booted to cd
got to the blue and teal splash screen, chose language, then comp froze for like a minute and reboots
tried again, just get to splash screen no prompts, sit and reboot

| | Why would they burn to a cd or snail mail? Hell, I can't imagine a character file being more than a meg max... Talking, you export the data, send via the internet to the other server, import. 5 mins max (assuming you were doing 1, but they are probably doing 100s or 1000s at a time, so add another 5 mins) which makes each person get like 5-10 seconds of someone's time and some bandwidth...
