| My PS1 never had any trouble. It was tough like a brick, but never acted like one. My SNES still works, my dreamcast still works, hell my Saturn still works. My PS3 has been on everyday folding and it still works. My PS2 took 2 years to break (which then I had it fix by Sony for free, citing Disc Read error problems even though it was out of warranty) and it worked for 3 1/2 years after that, with heavy, heavy usage. My computers usually last 2 1/2 years, and any time I had outages is because I would cook my ram from overclocking. I bought a white box laptop from ebay 4 years ago and it still works like a champ (albeit its worn and torn).
Computers are also of a different breed. They are supercomplex and models change every 6 months. Components change so often that sometimes its hard to narrow down a problem. For example, the hard drive may come from Wester Digital, the ram from samsung, the motherboard from Asus (or maybe from themselves) the processor obviously AMD or intel. Powersupply might be a foxconn or something else of that nature. And those components change all the time.

Its one thing to have consoles failing over one or two problems. But its Microsoft's see, say, hear no evil policy. Its one thing to have a problem, its another to avoid it acknowledging it altogether.
Interviewer: So, what do you think about the reported failure rates that the Xbox 360 seem to be having?
Microsoft Rep: My my, its a nice day outside...say, do you know what a wookie is? Of course you don't. He lives on the planet Kashyyyk.. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Not just to the person above me, but I'd like anyone to name five major titles there weren't filled with its shares of bugs, in recent years. Oblivion actually had a smooth release and you could play through near damn all the game, without missing all that, just using the retail patch.
Gothic 3 or NWN2 however (moreso Gothic 3) was just plain terri"bad". Flag this | Edit this post |

| Fuck fun. Consoles nowadays are all about gameplay or graphics. Fuck them both; within those selections of games that are out nowadays (albeit the few gems that you can find) the third category for purchasing a video game (to which the term I do not oblige using). Fantasy, sci-fi. To make you feel like you are there, to bring you out of every-day life and into its own world, like what a book can do.
Espically games for the Wii, developers have all but stopped producing the lore, the passion that could be seen in older games. Its all a circle jerk of gameplay/graphics fanboyism, broken down and segregated to the platforms they play on. Sony, Nintendo, nor Microsoft has failed any of us, they simply offer a platform that the developers can choose to bring about their messages. I'd gladly play 100 dollars for a game or 600 dollars for a console, if I knew that it offered something more of a serious nature, something that could bring out the raw imagination of a grown man.
So like I said. Fuck fun. Fuck realism. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Revenue US$44.2 billion (2006)[2]
Operating income US$16.4 billion (2006)[2]
(36.3% operating margin)[3]
Net income US$12.6 billion (2006)[2]
Right, pocket change? Try more like significant amount of money. I mean, if they needed to bleed money to solve their problems, they'd do it. But to pay 1.5 billion for Mp3s? Right. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I've been thinking and typing some of the possible responses to say to you and really, they all end up being way too long.
Its silly to think PS3 is sinking. Its been a rough start, but thats what happens when the hype monster comes into play. If you have any thought process in that head of yours and unless I've mistaken about your first comment, you'll realize the only one thats been sinking this entire time is you. | Not to say anything contrary to what you just said, as I also believe that the Wii is targeted/geared toward kids "and" everyone else ..but ..
I thought this was firingsquad, home of the "hardcore" gamer?
Could just be me or maybe that banner is out of date. ;) Flag this | Edit this post |

| Ignorant statement. Sony is a huge multi-billion dollar company. They make tons of money off their other branches (their game company hasn't made money in a while) so your premature so called "Nail in the coffin" fortune really doesn't hold that much truth. They can barrel on ahead for now. PS2 was hated on when it first came out as well; look how it did.
And as for those "exclusives.." I never bought a PS2/PS3 to play those games, so I really don't care. You play one GTA, you've played them all. Flag this | Edit this post |
