| | Do you even understand the point of research or that pesky little thing called the scientific method? Cellular differentiation and its regulatory pathways (those that we know of) are insanely complicated. It has been 50 years since Watson and Crick swindled Rosalind Franklin out of a Nobel Prize, to claim in that time we have learned all there is to learn about DNAs' role in cell differentiation is alarmingly arrogant. It was religion (I think) that put it best "Absence of proof is not proof of absence". You are certainly entitled to your opinion but don't forget governments have been claiming inane things for years. (US Patent office ceases to issue patents on the grounds that "there is nothing left to invent"). Maybe potential human life is sacred...so why stop at the embryo? http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9002085385040727366 Flag this | Edit this post |

| | JCal's busy little fingers have typed out some utterly bewildering titles but I don't think this is one of them. If you are going to complain about the title why not make your criticism useful. What exactly about the title do you see as "completely misrepresenting [the] issue" ? Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I thought that L-dopa did wonders to alleviate the cognitive problems associated with Parkinson's but did little to lessen the other symptoms and might actually exacerbate the patient's loss of motor control. The rational being it is preferable to have control of one's mind than one's body. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Who cares what the dead wants.
I think his family cares...if his father says that Irwin would not have wanted a state funeral why doubt him? Irwin's family has more grief to deal with than his fans, so shouldn't the funeral be held in a way that best helps the family deal with their loss? Flag this | Edit this post |

| -we as gamers have no choice but to use Windows
I was under the impression that a number of the more popular XP games were also available for Macs and that there was even some success shoehorning XP games into Linux. Yes, Windows has the largest selection of compatible titles and is an easy OS to run games in but that makes it the best choice for gamers but not the only one.
Hey if you like being screwed that's your business. Facts are:
Vista and all MS products are overpriced due to their monopoly
No…the facts are:
Your opinions aren’t facts
What did it cost to develop Vista? What is the markup on each unit? What is the average markup for software from other developers? When normalized for the life expectancy/ time between upgrades how does the markup on Vista compare to the markup on other software?
DX10 would work just fine on XP but is being made exclusive to Vista to drive sales
Yeah I’m disappointed too but this is standard business practice around the world…companies are always bundling less popular products with their more popular ones.
Vista isn't anything more than XP with more window dressing. Maybe it will have a higher performance in games, but i'm betting the differences will be minor.
Ok, don’t buy it.
People who think it's great to pay more than they should and think up reasons why they enjoy being gouged need their heads examined. Maybe you have unlimited money. If so, maybe you could buy me a copy of Vista.
Uh…this is pretty much what I meant by “ppl put into [gaming] what they can afford”…albeit with less spite than how you’ve put it. Now don’t tell Lenin, but some people will have more money than you and others will have less so ‘reasonable price’ is a relative term. Hell, I’d like one of those crazy quad SLI setups but I can’t afford it…bitching and calling ppl names isn’t going to lower the price. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | God I hate these stupid MS bitch fests that rehash the same inane grievances over and over again =( How do you know the development costs of Vista? Even if it is the biggest over priced p.o.s ever, as Fr0stBite said, you aren't being forced to upgrade. I find it more ridiculous that ppl shell out something like $180 a year to play mmog like WoW. Gaming is a hobby and ppl put into it what they can affort. As for DX10 not coming to XP remember Steve Nash says "If you want the best you've got to get the best"...conveniently omitting "..it's going to be expensive". Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Well just for interest sake I'm with Rogers (Canada) and well they're not 3rd world they sure as Hell aren't 1st =( For the most part I've had the same experience as you with pings being dependent on location rather than time and I frankly don't know how much variation (if any) there is in connection quality at different times of the day. But it is the most basic research pratice to examine one variable at a time while keeping the test conditions as close to indentical as you can make them. As you said more reviews will be out soon...I'm going to go out on a limb and say that all of them will use (at least) two machines so that they can test the NICs at the same time. | Two machines are needed b/c they are trying to see how this thing affects latency and so, in an effort to make the NIC the only variable, both test systems need to be connected at the same time.
But seriously...what is IGN thinking putting a $280 NIC in a system with a $100 video card? Flag this | Edit this post |
