I thought EAW looked awesome. I do run a 7800 GTX, so most everything looks good on my machine. Usually the graphics complaints I hear are from peeps with piss poor cards. Ehh if you can't afford a good card go play a console.
The game-play in EAW was fresh, I give Lucas props for trying something different than the standard generic RTS format most game makers churn out these days.
