| | Surely the surge had nothing to do with gamers waiting on a highly anticipated bundle sporting MGS4, an included DS3 controller, and software BC for only $100 more than the gimped version of the PS3 hardware, which only included a SixAxis controller...shocking!!! Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Media playback wise the PS3 can do everything the 360 can do. For your extra $100 you get 20GB more HD and the most future proof Blu-ray player available. Also, the PS3 has integrated wireless, which costs $100 for the official add-on from MS, or at least $50 for a wireless to Ethernet bridge. Flag this | Edit this post |

| 80% of Intel's sales are outside the USA. The sub-prime mortgage mess didn't effect them much because of this. Also, even in the USA people are still buying computers; they're just buying cheaper models of computers, which is why Intel's profit margin (lower end CPU=less margin) was down slightly this quarter.
Intel's future looks bright with Nehalem, X58 with Crossfire and SLI support, competitive server chip offerings to AMD's Opteron that are starting to cut into AMD's server market share, Centrino 2 already out, and mobile quad core just around the corner. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I wonder what the video game rental market is worth now? Also, does the video game market data include subscription revenue (e.g. WoW player subscriptions, XBox Live, etc.) and digital downloads (e.g. Wii VC, PS Marketplace, etc.)?
It's not like a movie needs a subscription to play it, but some games need subscriptions for multiplayer and persistent worlds hosted on servers. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Get ready for Big Brother I don't personally see the actual console hardware going anywhere. What I could imagine in 10years is a console without any optical drive in it. I think we're set to see a Steam (Valve's DRM software for the PC) like product on the console front, and the death of physical media for the console.
Think of it as say 1TB of storage (not far fetched at all in 10years for a console) in a black box. You choose which games you want to "buy" and it downloads and decrypts it. Your purchase is then DRM locked to that particular console and/or your user account. Console makers have long wanted to get rid of the secondary sales market (bye bye EB Games, etc.) and 3rd party hack software running on their (yes it's theirs, even though you paid for it and think it's yours) console. | | That's what I was thinking. Even at retail, parts for a machine of that spec with OS wouldn't crack $900 methinks. Oh yeah, not to mention I could actually upgrade a custom built rig. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | That would actually be a good reply. Something like, "tell you what, you drop the price of the games on our platform to $30 and we'll price the console at $200. We lose money on hardware, but make it up on royalties from increased game sales...Otherwise, shuddup!". Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Perfect fit for the Wii. I imagine the remote used as the proton pack gun and wiping the nunchuck forward to release the ghost capture thingy. You could even use the buttons on the nunchuck for opening and closing up the trap. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Yeap, a good plan would be to get ahold of an 8800GT now and grab another when you want more performance.
Now I want to see a $500 card with 512bit bus, 1GB RAM, and 256 stream processors so I can play Crysis with all the eye candy turned on. Flag this | Edit this post |
