| » Exactly... Businesses will only be upgrading to Vista when they need a new computer and have no choice to buy XP instead. Unlike Windows 2000 to Windows XP, the additional RAM and Video card requirements put a Vista "upgrade" out of the reach of most end users as well. And, if you were ANY business, and saw nothing compelling about Vista for your enterprise, why bother with paying the excessively high price of Premium, Enterprise, or Ultimate (the only versions worth buying, period) which is MORE THAN THE COST OF MOST NEW COMPUTERS!!! Unbelievably pricing, market segmentation, etc. from the MS MBAs this time around. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | It is worth noting that the REASON Germany was in the crapper before World War II is that they STARTED World War I. They got what was coming to them, in spades. Unfortunately, all it did was kick the dog when it was down, so after their second attempt at world domination, we helped them rebuild so that there would never be another German war machine. The Marshall remains the best thing the United States has ever done for the world (besides numberous inventions). Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Actually it started when Avi Arad realized he had no Marvel films coming out the next summer, against Batman Begins, etc. so he decided to take the crowl jewel and rush a story, script, and director straight to your screens 9 months later. He didn't care if it sucked or not. As long as it made enough money to break even (it did), he gets to keep his job...ahem. That's how it REALLY works. Flag this | Edit this post |

| That's what Netscape said when the first Internet Explorer came out...anyone anywhere use Netscape for anything anymore?
And that's what Sony said when the Xbox came out...now look at how the tables have turned with the Xbox 360.
So, if the first Zune doesn't take off (too early to tell), beware the next Zune or the Zune after that.
Microsoft has the deep pockets to win any fight it wants to play bad enough, long enough. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Since I had seen this on CNN, and read it on their website, etc. etc. weeks ago, I didn't need to read the article. I mean, this story went around everywhere weeks ago. The only way to have missed it the first time was to have been living in a box. :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| The third person combat control is unbelieveably badly done. I can't believe this left the shop like this.
The only way to fight anything effectively is to use the T key to switch to first person mode. That way, what you are looking at is what you hit.
Otherwise, in third person mode, you have to save constantly, because even the weakest animal can just chop you to shreds as you're apparently swinging around like Rain Man washing a car.
Oh, and don't try and heal in combat. While the monsters beat on your butt, you leisurely put your sword AND shield away (IN COMBAT MIND YOU) so you can slowly and carefully drink that potion (IF AND ONLY IF getting hit doesn't interrupt whatever you are doing, ahem). Once you've gotten every drop, you carefully put the potion away and methodically draw your sword...or at least you could do that if you weren't beaten to death five seconds ago...ahem.
LAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Otherwise, I thought the graphics, quests, characters, etc. etc. were all GREAT. Too bad that the programmers created the combat system rather than the playtesters, gamers, game designers, etc. etc. etc.
Hopefully they can tweak the controls some before release. Otherwise, don't buy this game. If they do that, however, it'll be a recommend! Flag this | Edit this post |

| » bulls**t vista ultimate is the one they are selling everyone on when they list the (remaining) five or six new features of the OS.
Instead, they are doing a bait and switch, showing the ultimate features, but shipping vista home basic (which doesn't even have the new interface!) with new PCs.
Then, if you want the REAL vista experience, you have to pay a couple hundred directly to microsoft.
I wonder how the vendors are going to show off Vista without being able to show the features?
Does anyone even want to buy a computer with vista home basic?
I would think that the Premium version is what will be actually the baseline OS version of Vista. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » don't fall for this None of these machines will have DX10 graphics (not released yet, and no games use it), so you'll be upgrading your graphics card at a premium price when you need it if you buy a "vista ready" machine now.
Also there's no guarantee the OEM bundled software won't need to be uninstalled/fixed/etc. to install the upgrade version of the software. And finally, MS is trying very hard to get every vendor to install Vista Home Basic (which is a useless no better than XP version with none of the new features) so you have to still pay money directly to MS to get a REAL OS installed.
I'm advising everyone not to fall for this scam. Wait until you can buy a full Vista Premium equipped PC with DX10 installed, full working debugged drivers, and no legacy software/hardware issues...in February probably.
It'll be faster, cheaper, and better than anything you can buy today with some lame coupon. Flag this | Edit this post |
