| | Consoles have done the PC market much harm. Think about it. Patches with new maps always used to be free. Xbox Live equivalent on PC, Game for Windows Live has caused games to not work with most game pads on the market, some terrible console like DRM has been transferred over to PCs, you can't host your own servers anymore, most PC games are console ports whereas it used to be the other way around, etc. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I still prefer PS3 for value.
Xbox 360 arcade - $200
Xbox 360 60GB hard drive - $90
Xbox 360 wireless network - $80
And that doesn't even factor in BLu-ray.
Also, the PS3 lets me activate up to 5 consoles at a time. Microsoft only lets me activiate one console at a time which is a pain if you own two. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | How can you measure Intel marketshare now when you can't say no to Intel graphics if you are buying a mainstream CPU? I recently bought an HP DM3 notebook with Intel integrated graphics and it was the worst piece of garbage I've used in years. If I bought a desktop PC with Intel integrated graphics, there's no way I'd use the Intel integrated graphics. I'd pop in an add-in card. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Sorry to say but this gives the wrong impression. I've worked at Fry's before and I've seen my share of idiots buy products without knowing if it will work with their PC or not and then return it when it is not. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I almost hate it when websites quote companies that downplay their competitors technology. Of course they are not going to embrace it publicly. What did you expect? That Microsoft was going to say "Wow. Wish we had that in the Xbox 360. Way to go Sony." This news is almost nothing new, therefore not newsworthy. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | It used to be that one would sacrifice features and image quality for the ease of use and stability of consoles. That was fine. But now taking away features from PC users for no good reason is just going to far. Sorry but this is my first Carmack PC game I will not be purchasing. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Last quarter, Intel's profit margain was 57.6 percent. If they did not produce an Intel Atom processor, I am sure it would be much higher than that. Intel makes a huge profit on CPUs. I think AMD was in the 40's. ATI and NVIDIA I believe are in the 30s. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Well, I think most people saw digital distribution coming. It was not that consumers didn't want it, its that the music industry don't want it. This is completely different from game developers. I still don't see digital distribution the main method of delivery for set top consoles, only for portables. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I think digital is the way to go for portable but consoles, no way do I see optical going away. If anything, I just think more and more games will be purchased online from etailers as opposed to your local brick and mortar stores. I like to be able to swap games with friends, not worry about downloading large amounts of data to my console, etc.. I'd be upset if I as a father came home to do some work but couldn't because all of the bandwidth was being used by my son as he is downloading the latest Call of Duty 10. | | It somewhat feels like they are changing their ways. Going for the higher ASP. I am not surprised though since the ATI division lost money last quarter even though they basically had the best product in almost every price point. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Its somewhat amazing how much love Intel has gotten for Larrabee. Intel has never provided a great 3d experience with any of their graphics controllers and now we bestow upon them the title of savior for the 3d gaming market? I kind of think Larrabee in the end will be a blip in history. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I don't think Sony will have problems getting the PS4 out the door early. The PS3 was behind because of Blu-ray problems. I doubt there will be a new storage media between now and when the PS4 launches so for the most part, Sony's biggest challenges will be software related. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Keep in mind investors are interested in the future, not the past as much. That is why the $119 million is not as important. Given that AMD's graphics division ATI had a loss without any bump cracks and NVIDIA sort of had a profit, makes you wonder if AMD is messing up ATI's business model. I don't remember ATI ever losing money before AMD took them over. Flag this | Edit this post |
