| | The whole price thing leading to piracy is not that simple. With computer hardware, there is much more value to it plus it is used much more often than a single game is. Also, Gabe forgets that only a small market of gaming enthusiasts spend a lot of money on computer hardware. Most play on basic entry level graphics cards and CPUs. Flag this | Edit this post |

| "NVIDIA obtained the chipset license from Intel back in 2004, paving the way for nForce 5 chipsets like the nForce 590i SLI, and eventually today's latest nForce 7 series"
Technically, it should be paving the way for nForce 4 chipsets since that was the first chipset to support Intel processors. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I think stocks didn't fall because Intel warned last week so the market was already prepared (huge drop in stock prices last week in the tech sector when Intel announced so NVIDIA's announcement was already factored in). Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I do tech support and although I understand that as a budget board, ECS boards sell a lot (especially if you shop at Fry's) but I tell you, ECS boards drive me crazy. I also know people who buy ECS boards probably have cheaper components and all, but I still hate ECS boards. Oya, I once had an ECS board that I bought as a combo from Frys with AMD Athlon 64 X2 processor and when I took it home, it worked for a few days and then stopped working. So I exchanged the CPU since I couldn't get it to work on a different computer. Then the power supply went out. So I exchanged that. Then a short while later, the power supply died again so I RMAd it again. Then once I got the power supply back in, the CPU died again. I got so frustrated I decided to replace the motherboard thinking it was the motherboard. I bought an FIC motherboard and it worked perfectly. Still does. SO that is my experience with ECS. It was a few years ago but all the problems I had with the motherboard negated the savings I got from buying a lower priced board. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I know I won't win but my friend wants me to build him a new PC for his wedding photography business so I chose the Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 for the motherboard (2oz copper and only X58 motherboard that I am aware of that support 24GB of system memory without having to move up to workstation class). We'll be ordering the parts soon. Gigabyte makes great stable, overclocking friendly motherboards at great value. Most importantly they are very stable. As I tell all of my friends, the motherboard is the most important component in your system since everything runs through your motherboard. Not only does Gigabyte make some of the best motherboards for PC's but the best hackintosh motherbooards period. :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | That's a different scenario. Microsoft needed Apple around so that Microsoft could copy their ideas. Otherwise, they wouldn't be able to come up with any thing that works while making sense. On the other hand, Intel doesn't need AMD around. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I like Macs and iPods but this guy is an idiot for comparing the iPhone/iPod Touch to anything close to PSP/NDS. I have only purchased one game for my iPod Touch and only because almost all games on the App Store sucks. No one is going to trade their NDS/PSP for an iPod Touch/iPhone unless that person doesn't care about portable gaming anymore. Flag this | Edit this post |

| No.
I am already frustrated with EA's buggy games/DRM. Now if Disney buys EA, they are likely to bombard users with Disney commercials like they do with Disney movies. Heck, I rip my kids DVD movies just to get rid of all the damn commercials. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Given that you can mod the Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii, etc., I am not sure how the console is any better. I think there is some truth to it in some ways but I also think it mainly comes down to costs. It is a lot cheaper to develop for console (minus the license fee) because you do not have to provide support for a gazillion different hardware configurations and also because you don't have to worry about compromising graphics for sales by making a game so advanced, it limits the amount of people who can purchase it because of older PCs they own. I personally feel that the quality of PC gaming and not the piracy is what is forcing people to switch to consoles for games. Games which were designed with gaming console first suffer when ported to PC. Flag this | Edit this post |
