| | Not so. Blu-Ray (and HD-DVD) are not enforcing HDCP for at least a year, and I think I've heard it's longer now. You can get 1080i via component video on all discs currently shipping. 1080p support is a mixed bag now anyway. Some players read the 1080p encoded disc, downconvert to 1080i internally, then upconvert 1080p at output. Really strange stuff. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Well in the case of the 360, component is the best possible video cable.
I think they should include the HDMI cable though. If they're touting the Blu-Ray, they should give you the neccessary cable for it. DirecTV HD TiVos, for example, come with both a HDMI-HDMI cable and a HDMI-DVI cable. I've seen 'em in stores for $10 too (HDMI cables), so it's not like they're as outrageous as people think. | The words may sound like crap, but that's part of his schtick. Their "definitions" are hillarious...
Global Language Monitor defined "truthiness" as used by Colbert as meaning "truth unencumbered by the facts." "Wikiality," derived from the user-compiled Wikipedia information Web site, was defined as "reality as determined by majority vote," as when astronomers voted Pluto off their list of planets last week. | | Retro look, true, but I think they've realized the space shuttle concept was overly complex for what they need. Also, as stated in the article, "The capsule's conical shape is the safest and most reliable for re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere". With the recent problems with heat tiles, just think about where they are on this thing durring launch. Snug up against the service module, no way for foam or anything else to hit them (unless the service module explodes, a la Apollo 13). Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I don't think Christensen was the problem with Vader, that was all Lucas. Everybody was horrible in those movies. Portman, Jackson, Smits, and don't forget Jake Lloyd in Episode I. Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor were about the only ones who were tollerable. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Actually I bet the small blue buttons at the top are the "function" keys, but the do special functions like launch word and stuff until you hit the blue key at the bottom, just like many current keyboards.
Still not for gamers. Might be cool for a media center PC, which is what they seem to be targeting. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Anybody who has an HDTV should be excited. The difference between DVD and HD isn't as great as VHS to DVD, but it's close, especially on a (very) large screen.
Obviously, the masses that don't have HDTVs aren't going to care. I seriously doubt HD DVDs (either format) will become the norm until/unless the players and discs become as cheap as regular DVD, but the home theater crowd has been clamoring for this so much that it can't not last. You'd be amazed how popular Laser Disc actually was before DVD, and they were annoyingly cumbersome. Flag this | Edit this post |
