» No Improvement on LOMAC Guys,
I would welcome anyone who can show me how to increase my frame rates on LOMAC with distance settings set to "high", and flying over densely populated areas. I have an 8800 GTX (see my rig list), and from my entry level 3.2 GHz P4 with its 6800 GT, to this new 8800 GTX water-cooled monster, I see no difference under the circumstances mentioned. In fact, since Invidia hasn't ironed out all the bugs in the drivers yet, I actually get poorer images from the 8800 than either the 6800 GT, or the 7800 GTX KO. Now, let me be clear about one thing; the 8800 GTX is absolutely brilliant in other games - BF 2, Doom 3, Quack 4, etc. However, while I realize that LOMAC is primarily CPU limited, I am puzzled by the fact that I see virtually no difference between the 6800 GT / 3.2 GHz combo, and the 8800 GTX, / 3.8 GHz combo - even when the 3.8 GHz is gradually clocked up to 4.2 GHz - the point where LOMAC crashes for no immediately apparent reason. Frame rates flying over Sevastopol Naval Station seem to be "Locked On" (no pun intended) at 7-9 f.p.s., regardless of which machine I use. However, the 8800 GTX machine clocked just over 200 fps during an outside camera shot (F2), looking right at the plane, clouds rolling around, water in the background (set to high) with all the settings maxed, except for shadows, which were set to "All Planar" rather than full, because of the bug I mentioned. Daaaaaaaanng!
I welcome thoughts, and if someone can provide me with a viable fix to noticeably improve frame rates under the conditions mentioned, (the high distance / city conditions) I would happily make a financial "donation" for their efforts.
