| unless you are a pirate, this won't affect most people. And stating up front what the limit is is a good thing. No big deal. Despite the sensationalist final sentence, gamers don't need to switch. No gamer is going to be using more than 250Gb of bandwidth in a month unless they are pirating every game they can find, and a crapload of movies to boot.
250Gb is a lot! Flag this | Edit this post |

| | sorry, but selling cpu's at a loss does not mean victory. why do you think they are losing? for years and years amd was selling far too many cpu's at a loss to try to gain market share, but all it does is drag their bottom line down farther into the red. They need to make competive cpu's and sell them at a reasonable profit to keep going. Flag this | Edit this post |

| "all the things that don't work correctly and never will"?
You had a very minor problem with one game that is very easy to work with and think it's horrible? You think that all games have problems and never will work correctly?
I have never had a problem with any game running dual monitors, except for one game that had the same problem you mention that didn't block off the screen edge like 99% of all games do. And it was no big deal once I realized it. I cannot imagine running with just one screen anymore. I will never go back to one screen. Two monitors are far too useful for a gamer to give up in my opinion. Flag this | Edit this post |

| with the 280 you can run a dual monitor setup. with the 4870x2 you cannot.
that settles the matter for me. Until nvidia and ati get off of their asses and start supporting dual monitor setups with sli/crossfire I'll stick with the fastest single gpu setup, and thats the 260/280 from nvidia. Flag this | Edit this post |

| People don't say Vista is bad because of the media. They say it because it's the "cool" thing to say.
I would guess that 99% of the people that complain have never even seen it in use.
Such as those that say it takes too long to boot, when it actually boots up and is operational faster than xp. My e8400 is dual bootable with xp pro and vista 64 ultimate. I thought I would be running xp most of the time and just dabbling with vista. Turns out I've never booted back into xp since I built and tested the rig because vista is not a problem. It's not any slower with app's, and it definately boots and is operational faster than xp and as for shutting down? Nope, it's not slower there either.
Some people just hate microsoft and are unwilling to bend in their hatred of vista, regardless of facts. Flag this | Edit this post |

| sorry, but a 260 @ $300 or a 4870 @ $300. both perform about the same, the 260 wins some, the 4870 wins some. I don't see that as a slaughter. Not everybody wants the slower 4850, some people are more concerned with performance. Especially if the 48xx series is like the 3870 where the minimum framerates drop to unacceptable lows. I don't know why fs hasn't produced the charts showing minimums like they did with the 3870 series.
as for the 4870x2, it's not out yet, and it's a crossfire board. That means no dual monitor support which means its won't get purchased by anyone running dual monitors. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I'll still stick with nvidia with the 260 or 280 since they are the fastest single gpu solution.
Some of us run dual monitor setups, which means no crossfire or sli!!
I wish these companies would get on the ball and let us run dual monitors with 2 gpus!!
I've been running dual monitors since my 9700pro, ain't about to give it up now. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I have a dual boot system with vista 64 ultimate and xp pro on an E8400 core2, 8800gt and 4gb ram. I haven't booted back into xp since the install and testing. There is no measurable difference between the two in gaming at all.
the only complaint I have is with adobe, they still don't have a flash player compatible with any 64bit browsers, so I have to use 32bit explorer! Flag this | Edit this post |

| who really cares? Gaming is not about stellar graphics that bog down computers. It's about GAMEPLAY!! I can deal with not so great graphics if the gameplay is there, but I cannot deal with bad gameplay, even if the graphics are superb!!
that being said, blizzards graphics have always been good for the types of games they make. And you criticize WoW, but the graphics are very well done. Not to mention the fact that the game is 4 years old now and needed to run on the widest possible range of systems. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | no it's not. Vista is a very very good os. This is just an admission that computers that came with xp in the last few years are so powerful that there is no need for people to go out and buy a new computer with vista. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Too bad they stopped testing MINIMUM framerates!! A lot of sites claimed the 3870x2 was a great card because of it's high average framerates in games. But the reality is, it suffered big time drops in framerates occasionaly. I wonder if the same is true of this newest card? Even here at fs when they tested it, the 3870x2 would drop into the teens while the 8800's would drop to 50 in the same game!! The 9800 may still be better if it can keep the minimum framerates higher, as it's the minimums that are the game killers!! Flag this | Edit this post |

| exactly!! Even not so great games become a lot of fun if you can play co-op with a spouse or friend at home, or over the internet with something like vent or ts. And great games become not so great when you discover that you have to play by yourself, which isn't much fun for a lot of us.
Cooperative play is about the only type of games I want to play anymore! Flag this | Edit this post |
