| » wouldn't hurt WoW A starcraft MMO would have zero effect on WoW. Considering the development cycle, it would be 4 years or more before the SC mmo would be out. by then WoW will be going down and the majority of the players will be looking forward to another blizzard MMO. Starcraft would be a good option to keep blizzard in the MMORPG genre. Flag this | Edit this post |

| that is some lazy ass posting by you. You didn't even read the article apparently, just the headline. He played in high school, so of course these people will say they didn't see him playing.
and the fact that he did play is relevent. It's not what caused this to happen, but if he was a hardcore player it would certainly have given him a way to practice in a virtual world to become as efficient a killer as he turned out to be in the real world. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | The airport worker that reported the pilot should get a big reward, not get fired. If the pilot smelled like alcohol, he should have been stopped and reported. No pilot should be flying if they had been drinking. I can't believe that somebody would think the person should be fired for looking out for the safety of everybody. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I would agree if he was in the act, but he wasn't. The victim was driving away and this idiot fired into the back of the truck as it's going down the road. there was no threat to his wife. His wife should be punished severely, but he shouldn't get off scot free for shooting somebody in the back that is no threat. He should have chased the guy down and beat the living crap out of him. | It seems that while this line of thinking will be good for quite a few applications, it will not be good for gaming. How much of the gpu is left to do all the calculations for physics, pathing, ai, etc... if the card is already being worked to it's max putting the intense graphics on the screen? there has to be a trade-off somewhere.
and economies in games like WoW? that is completely controlled by the people playing the game, not by the game itself. The computer doesn't set prices for things that are bought and sold between players. Thats why you can play on 2 different servers and have completely different economies on them even though it's the same game.
but it is a well written article. One of the few I have seen in this contest. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | what language is this written in? there are some english words in there, but a whole lot of funny symbols and other graphical things instead of letters in a whole bunch of the words. Not really sure what the point is when I don't know what so many of the words are supposed to be. Flag this | Edit this post |

| My 6800 ultra is agp also, and only has 256mb of ram. In fact, it is an evga 6800 ultra in a p4 3.2 ee system that I built in 2003 on an asus p4c-800E with 2gb of ram. Besides, pcie doesn't really make much difference, yet.
another thing that also affects performance in this type of game is system memory, 2gb makes a significant difference over 1gb. As does server load in lotro, since the netcode is so horrible still.
but the real difference must be between the the crippled 6800 and the full fledged 6800 gt and ultra. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | jacobvandy, you should not open your mouth about something you obviously know nothing about. It's been proven time and again that 30 fps is noticably choppy. It has nothing to do with fluctuations. when you are flashing static discreet images on the screen the way computer games do, the human eye can detect the small jumps in the images because there is no motion blur like there is in recorded images. It has to be over 60fps for most people to perceive it as smooth. and some people have even better sight and can notice the choppiness in that even. I am sorry you don't like reality, but that is a fact. It has been scientifically proven. You are just restating an old myth that was started because of motion pictures appearing smooth at 30fps. computer graphics are a completely different animal. Flag this | Edit this post |

| 30 is just acceptable, 60 is the sweetspot for most people to perceive it as smooth, which is why everybody strives for 60. My eyes are nowhere near perfect, yet I can tell when it's below 60 fps, and that is not because of fluctuation, it's because the images don't move fast enough to give the apparence of smooth movement.
And air force tests have proven that the human eye can detect over 220 fps. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | uhh, what kind of 6800? the x800 not better than the 6800, they are fairly comparable. But the 6800 generally outruns the comparable x800 card. I have a 6800 ultra that runs great at max settings. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | did you test on a closed network in the lab? If you just tested on the internet, your graphs are pretty much useless. Too many other factors can affect ping and framerate to do an open test like that. Flag this | Edit this post |
