| | Why don't we just arm our f*cking ships? The USA isn't interested in paying ransom money and dealing with pirates/terrorists so if you're held captive you're screwed until the Navy arrives (which may take a while). And Somali pirates are pretty well funded? What kind've bullf*ck is that!? If we arm our commercial ships with guns we stand a better chance than if we didn't. Period. | | Well said, Arete. Vista wasn't "moving forward in the industry." It was just giving Microsoft undeserved dollars. Now they've recognized their errors with Vista and quickly released a newer and better operating system, because those of us who didn't want to upgrade to something shitty spoke out. | Honestly? It's the Internet. You argue with anonymous assholes, you vent and you expect the guy on the other side to do the same. If his feelings got hurt I'm sorry...
Actually, no I'm not. =) Hey, it can be a tiny cliff. A broken bone, maybe? Flag this | Edit this post |

| | And you are what exactly? A random Internet fool that spews forth hypocritical comments? I don't see how that gives you the right to pass judgment on my OPINION, dumbass. Last I saw freedom of speech is still legal, and if I want to state that the president of a part of a successful company is being idiotic, then I have the right. Next time you say something, don't even bother pushing the X button and simply jump off a cliff. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | That isn't an entirely end-all argument. People WILL buy used games, regardless of the condition of the manual or box (both of which mean nothing) and if the game is playable that's all you need. There's a huge market of used games and many used games have 0 degradation on them. It all depends on the seller and how thorough the buyer is at checking the goods. There is really nothing new here. If it isn't an executable it's a pristine disc or files from a disc burned into another. Or outright piracy. The publisher needs to get with the times and think outside the box, like Stardock. | | Not everyone has a fast Internet connection, and more importantly I was talking about the service-end of the service and not the customer-end. Imagine having to service thousands of gamers whilst providing the least amount of lag possible... I mean this is more than just watching a movie, listening to music or playing WoW. | | Not quite. There's nothing publishers can do to stop people reselling their games. People do it with console games all the time, PC games should be no exception. Developers and publishers are beginning to realize that they need to make many compromises and sacrifices for the sake of the customer that buys their game. They're discovering that their millions spent on battling piracy has seriously backfired, so the only thing you can do is show some love for the legitimate consumer. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Lonyo, you completely missed the point. FiringSquad is not brown-nosing Valve. FiringSquad brought up Valve as an example not because they have the best pricing for all of their products, but because they DON'T. Valve discovered that by lowering the price of their overpriced products, sales increased by over 1000%.
EA is claiming that sales for their console games could be boosted by lowering the pricing of consoles, but Valve discovered they can do that by lowering the prices of their GAMES. And we're talking about console games, NOT PC GAMES. Mirror's Edge might be $40 for PC gamers, but it's $60 (last I checked) for console gamers and that's not a good deal.
