| You're wrong. Maybe it's because you didn't grow up in the right kind of environment, but it is VERY easy to purchase a gun that isn't tracked and wouldn't be any harder if guns were completely illegal. In fact, it would probably be easier.
Step 1 - Dress like someone from your favorite rap video.
Step 2 - Go to your local "ghetto".
Step 3 - Make sure you know your slang and ask around.
Step 4 - Buy a gun.
It will not take you more than 48 hours to find one. I'd honestly be surprised, outside of just plain looking in the wrong place, if it took you more than two hours to find one. Perhaps you should get your facts straight before spewing nonsense. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » People blaming gun laws... You really need to re-read all the events that happened here. Apparently you don't have all the facts straight. I've owned several guns and ENJOY shooting them in a controlled environment. Usually at a friend's farm, although not much anymore, or a gun range. It's for enjoyment and personal protection. I'm not going to run around kicking in doors and shooting people. Neither are 99.9% of the people who own a gun.
However, THIS psycho did not own LEGAL guns. The serial numbers were FILED OFF, that means they were illegally obtained. No amount of gun control laws will change the fact that the people who use guns maliciously like this almost never have aquired the gun legally. He bought it from some guy on the street. I can name half a dozen places where you could go buy a gun out of some guy's trunk late night on the weekend no matter who you are in 3 different cities. I highly doubt it's any different in any other city.
Rush Limbaugh, while a bit off his rocker most of the time, was 100% correct in his analysis of this situation. Blaming ANYTHING other than this guy being a fucking nutjob is stupid. Period. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Why can't this be in Houston!? It's only the fourth largest city in the country... I think too many Yankees think we're still riding around on dirt roads in a horse and carriage.
Oh well, I took the 24th and 25th off of work and will be there bright and early Tuesday morning to get my copies. Goal is 30+ before Wednesday night. (Record is 1-30 in 24 hours. Not me but some leveling contest winners. I've only gotta do 15-30.) Flag this | Edit this post |

| Bitlocker and substantially better diagnostic tools, better push support of updates in a corporate environment. Not to mention native block-level backups of the machines can reduce space required to get complete system backups stored on the network for easy push. Integrated search, also a big help. Better security too...
I don't see a reason to upgrade to Vista for the sake of upgrading, but I also don't see a reason to avoid getting new PCs with it. (a few cases, usually involving software that would barely run under XP, aside.) Flag this | Edit this post |

| It's very true. You can find posts and blogs, even the records of the correspondance with Blizzard regarding the problem.
Personally I wouldn't mind if they would have some sort of appeal process where they would look more closely, but to them it's just another way to drum up the $50 for the base game and $40 for the expac since most people just come back with a new account anyway. I mean, "Give me my account back or I'll pay you $90 to start over" isn't much of a threat. I wish there were a way to do that in my business. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Thanks so much guys, that's awesome news. Just got back from out of town, good thing to come home to.
I've since revisted those places after getting the pre-order DVD and installing the Very High res textures. If you think those shots looked good before, you should see them with some truly sharp textures in all their glory. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Vista doesn't need to be cracked or bought I don't know if you guys are aware of this, but Microsoft did something VERY cool with Vista that I have to give them considerable props for. As most computer "nerds" do, I regularly wipe and reload my system. If you start the install of Vista off a Vista DVD you can chose to install without entering a product key. At that point it asks which version of Vista you have with the typical warnings of if you pick the wrong one you'll have to reinstall. Make sure you tell it NOT to activate windows automatically when it's online.
Once in Windows it will let you run for 120days with a FULLY functional version of Vista, whichever one you chose to install. After 4 months you wipe and reload and you're set. As the vista install is roughly twice as fast as installing XP on modern hardware, and it has one hell of a backup built in, this should not be an issue for anyone even slightly savvy. | Ummm... It's working. Has been for a while now. Since the patch several weeks ago.
You can play as a monster at level 10. The monster is level 50. It's pretty cool. You can also play on your own character at 40+, although 50 is highly recommended. Purple player mobs are bad. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | It's exactly what I've found from playing this game for a few months. I've recently upgraded so it's acceptable on both computers, but previously I had to run one on medium to high and the other pretty much on low. It was like playing two completely different games. Proof that graphics can and sometimes do affect game play. Both can be pretty important. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » $15/month... This has got to be the most pathetic argument I ever hear about a video game. Let's see. To play an open-ended game (MMOs in general, not just wow) where I can do many things that I enjoy that is continuously maintained and updated through both "free" and "paid for" content. I know it's not free, the updates come from the money we pay each month, even though a lot of the money does go to bandwidth costs and server maintanence. (in fact, most live teams are pretty small, even WoW's actual live group is probably rather small)
Is it worth paying $15/month for that? Well, what does $15 really buy these days? Dinner for one at a decent, not even good, restaraunt. Is that a reasonable trade off for HOURS of entertainment that typically occupies more time than TV ever could. I find it an easy choice, although in my situation it's about the most entertaining thing I can do with free time. My wife plays as well, and we have lots of fun in whatever MMO we're playing. $30/month for 80% of our entertainment is a bargain. I can't view it any other way.
The grind and addiction arguments I'll agree with to some extent, although I will say that moderation and limits are important in all things. Including video games. I just find the argument of a monthly subscription is rather amusing. $15/month today is nothing... Of course, I am doing the LOTRO lifetime membership at launch to save some money on that. | You can, but watch the texture quality. From Medium to High to Very High doesn't change.
Plus, do you really think the entire install of the game is a single 2.8GB file? The high/very high textures alone are that big. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | At 70 rogues are restored to their former DPS glory. The reason we did so well back in the day is because rogues aren't nearly as gear dependent as the other classes you mentioned. Energy regen if finite, however sustainable, and our dps is limited to the amount of energy generated. The other classes don't have the same limitation, so as their gear improves they eventually catch and surpass rogues. However, once again in the early raiding at 70, no other class can come close to combat dagger or swords. Flag this | Edit this post |

| A few runs through Karazhan and it's really not all it's cracked up to be. Not to mention, the insane amount of drama 10 and 25 mans seem to cause in guilds setup for 40 man raiding is ridiculous. I guess the casuals are happy though...
Back to LOTRO for me. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Wrong... We need more MMOs where the development team has no vision for the MMO and lets the community dictate what trash they pump out. I mean, listening to the community is great. Every 14 year old who's played games for a few years has better ideas than people who do this professionally. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Nice work. Just an FYI before you go too far into this project though, Turbine is working with Google Earth to make a Google Earth version of Middle Earth. You'll be able to place your own map notes and zoom to points of interests, things like that.
Now compiling dungeon maps on the other hand... Flag this | Edit this post |

Had a level 45 hunter in beta 1, was so good. And I dislike hunters in other mmos... Flag this | Edit this post |
