» Here come the Suits and its about time NO MORE EXCUSES. No more whining crap. No more breaks. No more forgiveness. This isnt the only lawsuit, there are others and there are going to be a lot more SOON. I personally have had it. I want my $400 back for Vista. PERIOD. I service computers so I see what is going on out there. Its not just my computer. I personally welcome any lawsuit towards nvidia and MS. They both took part in an extreme marketing campaign which lured many into buying the OS and High end machines for "Gaming for Windows". This has been a total ripoff. Nvidia now has stopped releasing drivers according to their own time frame. Once a month. It is only when people stand up and finally say we have had enough will there be any progress if it is possible. If Vista is essentially Broken then recall it. If the incompatibilities are far too extensive between nvidia hardware and Vista then there will be a major recall. Considering I use XP and my copy of Vista is sitting in its box I am currently not going balistic but just waiting till the time is right to sign the list. So should everyone out there that has spent their hard earned money on these products. We were sold these products with a complete ready to go advertising campaign. WE ARE NOT BETA TESTERS, EARLY FRIGGIN ADOPTERS, WHINERS. Maybe the people that are not so upset about the situation had mommy and daddy buy there hardware or computers. Those of us who worked for the money to buy the products have every right to sue if that is what we feel is necessary. EOF
» I am convinced everyone thinks Vista is being used Ok I have 2 8800GTX in SLI and this game runs with out a glitch. Flawless BUT its in XP pro. No body seems to mention what operating system they are using anymore when talking about game performance. This is asinine. It is fact that STALKER runs crappy in Vista so just say it. Those of us with the high end machines sticking with XP have a 95% success and enjoyment rate from our gameplay. I dont care what anyone says, real gamers know damn well there is a handful of games that can run for maybe 15 minutes before crasing in Vista. This whole thing has become a Farce. A Charade. STALKER was in development for years. Of course it wasnt designed to run in Vista. The thing is is that Vista wasnt designed to run a Direct X 9 game. This is not like the XP days with Dos games. That type of backwards compatibility.
STALKER already runs great with SLI 8800 GTXs if you use XP.
» People do not want to upgrade I work usually 7 days a week in peoples homes and business's doing any setup, repair ,configuration and teaching. Considering my 13 years of experience in direct customer contact service in the Computer service business I would be a good person to tell you what the public thinks.
First they do not want to buy new computers especially the ones that have machines that are 2 years old or less.
Then for the people with older computers with XP. The 3 to 5 year old machines they are quite content staying with what they have.
I frankly am surprised at how many people will pay me 400 dollars to fix there machine even when I hear them say I can buy a new computer for that.
You have to ask yourself why dont they? They have a personal connection with their PC in some situations and then there is the inevitable issue of Vista.
People just dont want to have to learn a new thing when they dont even know how to use what they have. This is what they tell me.
Now on the other side of the coin in some cases my computer have to buy to new computers and this is where my advice is as follows.
Vista is currently not in a suitable condition for people to depend on it. Software companies are not writing good code for the OS yet. Period.
I personally bought Vista Ultimate on a midnight launch. Is it on a machine right now? NO
You ask why the hell not. Becuase I have loaded it 6 times from scratch. I bought the $400 dollar version. On each load some new issue pops up. On the last from a scratch clean array of 3 raptor 150s the control panel had gotten corrutpted I guess. I would show nothing in the window once clicked. I tried any way I could get to the control panel as well and nothing. Now that is a major bug in this OS. I can list a long list of problems with Vista.
One major problem I hate horribly is that on a restart it shuts down my drives on the array an d then the raid controller has to go and detect the array again which is slow vs a cold boot. In XP this does not happen. It does not matter what 680i motherboard you use either. Is it nvidias fault or Microsoft.
I am going to stop now but I frankly feel that most people that claim Vista is fine just dont have the experience in the field to make a real qualified judgment. I will be glad to elaborate on more problems elsewhere in the normal forum.
