Games: Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Shogun: Total War, Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising, NOLF, Deus Ex and many more.
MMORPGs: EVE, Tale in the Desert, R.O.S.E., Shadowbane, Silkroad and now, Flyff.
Literature: The Bible, Dune, LotR Trilogy, Gormenghast Trilogy and anything historical.
Music: All over the map with this one. Just about anything BUT rap and country.

| I had the same thing happen to me once, almost exactly as you explained it. I felt the same way you did... So, I called in sick for a couple of days. In truth, I had serious allergies at the same time. On about the 3rd day I called my boss and told him I understood he just didn't want me any more, so I quit.
The few sick days I took were properly reported and legitamate but they didn't compensate me for them. They moved my quitting date to the first sick day I took. Furthermore, because I was an idiot and quit spontantaneously, I was out of work for 1 year during which time my wife supported us. She didn't complain but I will never put her through that again.
We lost the house, and my Dodge Dakota... Hang in there man! They only win if you quit. Flag this | Edit this post |

I came to the office last week and our IT dept had implemented Websense. Now I feel my world has come to an end. FiringSquad is just about the only Game site they are as yet unaware of. I can no longer go to my favorite forums (of any topic), or game-sites. Even the mmorpgs I used to play on my break won't run if there is a small DL on the front end. DLs are all blocked as well. The URL for this page (firingsquad.com) is NOT blocked, but when I went to the pr0ductive URL I got a nasty IT message questioning it. So I will stick to this one. All my other websites, games and forums, are blocked.

Sorry, but all the comments about the 1.6gHz are getting annoying. I'll be certain not to mention it at all- DOH!
At any rate, as a 52 year old gamer, I can certainly relate to a lot of what you said. I used to love to play DOS games, and at one time, held the opinion that Windows games were crap. All that has changed over the years, of course.
One of my fondest memories was when my children would join me at work on a Saturday and we would all go to different offices and play Descent. We'd also put the phones on speaker in a conference call, so we could chat while playing. Ah yes, good times!
