First academics academies, lookup on the subject :)

Second, this has all to do with academics actually, as this very practice of of signing papers/studies one had little or no involvement in is commonplace.
Sometimes money is involved, other times it's just about "fame", but then "fame" is all about maintaining relevance so as to get paid on cosigning of private studies.

What Merck is doing there is just academics business as usual. If that surprises you, prepare to be shocked even more: if they did not do that, they wouldn't be getting no-one notable enough to sign their studies, regardless of the studies merits or who made them: academics will only cosign work that their peers can cosign, or they risk being labeled as private firms' pets.

This is a common academical practice, as academics are "rated" on the number of "papers" they "produce".

Merely a bump in very low sales.
PS3 tripled while starting from higher sales figures.

No problem with Vista 64 bit here, although it took a while.

Not thinness, but anorexia. Lookup wikipedia.

But hey, I can quite understand that for yanks everything under "medium fat" looks like the same thing.

Indeed, and the newsbit is a bit misleading, the demonstration was done with a 3bit memory (yeah, that's small), and access speeds are currently 1000 times slower thant what they need to be competitive with flash/HDD.
The 16bit snippet is actually what they anticipate to achieve, but even in the lab they're still not there, the kilobytes and megabytes are a long way off...

Interesting nonetheless :)

I wish nVidia would make a CPU.
With AMD now bleeding, we definetely need another competitor in the x86 space.

Atom won't be significantly faster. Read the review on Anandtech.
Atom is all about energy efficiency, but clock for clock it's a very slow processor.

And chess doesn't have redeeming merits either, it teaches about using pawns and manipulating rules to bring someone else into submission.

Changing hardware is what allowed Sony to make massive price cuts with the PS1 and PS2.
And as x4 pointed, current 360 is in serious need of a redesign (noise, heat, power brick, RRoD)

It does. Warhawk is heavily vehicle-based, and the console controls are clearly superior to mouse+keyboard for that IMO.

Me neither, probably only went half-way through the main storyline judging by online walkthrough.

One can only play a game for so long before being bored.

Sweet. Warhawk is the best online FPS-with-vehicles, PC/Consoles combined IMO.
