| Sony *was* the king of proprietary formats.
Lately they've been pushing open standards (BluRay being the latest), while MS on the other hand has always been the proprietary king (without exception, from Word/Excel file formats to dev tools like .Net, Java ala MS sauce, browsers, etc.).
