Sweet. Warhawk is the best online FPS-with-vehicles, PC/Consoles combined IMO.

Yeah. IMO if anything the PC as a high-quality graphics gaming platform is on its way out, PC gaming in the years to come will be all about MMORPG, flash games... and console ports.

Most crashes are never reported I would guess, only PCs with a permanent connection and users that allows reports to be sent back are counted, a small minority overall, and probably not too representative.

Vista was unusable for me with an nVidia card because I kept getting the NVLDDMKM crash that was common. Switched to ATI and haven't looked back, took a hit in speed but at least I can use my computer.

onboard sucks, you must have gone to too many parties with the sound turned up too loud not to notice the difference.

Why? If MS breaks backward compatibility, it's MS's job to fix it.
They're providing the OS, that's they job to maintain backward compatibility.

"but you can hardly criticise an OS for running 2-3 games at 60fps instead of 65fps."

Yes you can. Especially after Vista had promised has having greater performance. Games is one case where the OS shouldn't be playing a role, only drivers should, that games see such an impact is a sign of things seriously wrong.

Sony *was* the king of proprietary formats.
Lately they've been pushing open standards (BluRay being the latest), while MS on the other hand has always been the proprietary king (without exception, from Word/Excel file formats to dev tools like .Net, Java ala MS sauce, browsers, etc.).

I actually don't find it surprising in the least.

They should just go the Sony way and make the HDD user-upgradeable. PS3 accepts any 2"5 SATA drive, and it's easy to replace the drive.
MS is charging inordinate amounts for its lackluster drives.

I doubt they're releasing lackluster software on purpose.
The reality is that like all monopolies, MS is transforming into one huge inefficient bureaucracy.

Bollocks!
You'll be getting more gameplay time out of those 6 tracks than you would get out of most fullprice games.
