| Spot on the money. They had no real choice but to get in first anyway.
Paying up for all these defects is still probably better than having to write off their entire Xbox project because they didn't get ahead of, or at least highly competitive with, Sony in this gen. Flag this | Edit this post |

| IMHO it's not an engine fail, it's the art direction and/or artists themselves. The texture work is absolutely woeful.
If they were to redress it with *good* textures with a smart, consistent and complimentary colour palette, it'd be a winnar. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I can see how churning through five 360s would piss you off. :P
I on the other hand have had two 360s. The first one RRoD'd after about a year, and I was uber impressed (and surprised) with MS during the replacement. Really quick, efficient and great all round service. Go figure. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Yeah I was surprised at how good it was. Kinda fizzled for bit there in the middle, Downey Jr's sharp dialogue really dropped away too, and Paltrow was atrocious. But apart from that, top shelf! Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I think the BioShock IP is significantly more marketable than Halo. It's probably the most marketable game IP out there. Also, Verbinski is pretty capable with Pirates, The Weatherman and The Ring under his wing. All pretty well executed projects over a range of genres, from tentpole to arthouse. | This is a reply to the directly above (reply depth limit).
Being about 20% into the game, I firmly believe the scores are accurate. However, just because the game has a "perfect score" doesn't mean it is the "perfect game". For starters, there never ever has, is not and never will be a perfect game. That's a simple truth. But, *AS A PACKAGE*, while it has its shortfalls, this game is AAA in all respects AND it is clearly a game which is a significant calibre beyond all other games in furthering the progression of the gaming medium itself as an electronic entertainment platform. | I think you guys are reading a bit too much into Sweeney's statement. The two points he was trying to get across was that a) UE4 won't be seen on the current gen consoles, and b) its technical scope will use the hardware of the next round of consoles as its terms of reference, which makes sense to me. I like playing games on PC, but something needs to throttle the hardware cycle. This is probably a good thing for the PC market, if you think about it.

| I respect it, but I can't fathom your opinion. :p To me Blizz have produced the most consistently well designed games of any studio, both in terms of overall quality of product and gameplay. But that's just my experience.
Looking forward to SC2. Flag this | Edit this post |
