| | Apparently a large portion of the film will have no dialog whatsoever. Considering how most mainstream movies these days are crammed full with non-stop blabbing, it seems like kind of an interesting idea. I wonder how the A.D.D. generation will deal with it. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I don't know. I actually liked Ang Lee's Hulk. It was a surprise to me, because I was expecting the majority of the film to focus almost exclusively on a CGI green guy destroying everything. It turned out to be a lot more character driven than I had anticipated and was pleasantly surprised by Eric Bana. There were some very surreal, artistic and visually interesting sequences too. I didn't read the comic books though, so I can't speak to the issue of consistency on that front. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | I'm thinking that the next new game they announce (other than another WoW expansion, since they've committed to annual releases in the future) will be a brand new franchise. They haven't introduced a new gaming world in a long time and they've talked about wanting to do so in the past. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Wouldn't it be a little bit strange to announce Diablo 3 right after Starcraft 2? With all of Korea and a healthy chunk of the world's gaming community hotly anticipating SC2, wouldn't a D3 announcement give people the impression that Blizzard isn't putting as many resources as they could into ensuring a timely release of SC2, further dividing their development resources. Considering that they only had a skeleton team for the first few years while the majority were working on The Burning Crusade, now with many of them reallocated to the SC project, D3 seems somehow unlikely at this point in time. Not that I would complain. I'd love to see another Diablo game, but with essentially the entire Blizzard North team (the creators of D1 and D2) over at Flagship finishing up Hellgate:London, it just seems a little far fetched. | | It's so difficult to choose. I've played almost all of their games and every single one of them is fun and addictive. Despite all of my time playing Diablo, Diablo 2 and World of Warcraft for years and loving them, I had to choose Starcraft in the end. It's some kind of masterpiece and timelessly satisfying. | | It's true that Sword of Shannara was very much inspired by Fellowship (which Brooks has never denied. He loves Tolkien.), but it had a distinctively different flavor to it as well and in my humble opinion, a much more engaging narrative. Don't forget that in the later 70's that first Shannara book was largely responsible (along with Star Wars: A New Hope, which is classic fantasy, only in space) for spearheading the mainstream interest in fantasy as a whole. LotR has always had its share of hardcore fans over the decades since its inception, but Sword of Shannara helped revitalize the whole genre in a huge way and also helped reinvigorate interest in the Lord of the Rings as well. | | As a longtime fan of the Shannara books and Terry Brooks, I like the idea, but at the same time the fantasy genre of film is awash with mediocrity. LotR and Star Wars are exceptions to the rule (I take that back. The original trilogy is the exception). I don't want to see the Shannara stories butchered by a money grubbing committee trying to cash in on another fantasy mythos. Flag this | Edit this post |

| While I don't doubt the existence of such programs, it has no relevance to this artist. Take a look at another timelapse video of him drawing Marilyn Monroe, but this time on real paper with charcoal.

Apparently this fellow was so gifted an artist early on, that he went professional at the age of 10 years old. He's no macro programming hack. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Looks good, although for some reason I was thinking of Diablo in those environments. Places like Hell and Kurast. It would be fun to see a 3D isometric Diablo sequel with a graphics engine like that. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Well, I loved the Diablo games and would certainly not balk at another sequel. It just seems as though with all of the expectation, hype and excitement surrounding this greatly anticipated sequel to Starcraft, announcing another game so soon might steal some of its thunder and give people the impression that they're half-assing SC2's development by splitting resources off to yet another branch (WoW content expansions being the other, since they committed to more frequent, annual expansions post-TBC). | | Until we have the chance to really get a feel for the gaming world, the community and server population, the subscription service still feels pretty nebulous. I wouldn't be surprised if most folks postpone their commitment for a while after launch. It's all about perceived "value" and Flagship is walking a fine line here between making the initial purchasers feel "gimped" and the Elite subscribers feel as though they aren't getting their money's worth. Human nature being what it is, I hope the community doesn't create a climate of inadequacy/superiority between the two player groups. Hopefully they'll implement it in an elegant way to help discourage that. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Yeah, I was initially worried that SC4 was going to be heavily dumbed down from the earlier games, but was pleasantly surprised. They overhauled the UI a bit, but I think it was streamlined pretty well and ultimately less intrusive in the end. I never did end up checking out the expansion. World of Warcraft took over my life for a few years and I lost touch with most other games along the way. :) Flag this | Edit this post |

| | While none have been perfectly executed, I've thoroughly enjoyed the SimCity series of games. They are so unique and addictive; usually also sporting great soundtracks that I've always ended up dumping into my music collection for listening outside of the game. I love RTS, RPG and FPS games, but there's nothing quite like SimCity. It's nice sometimes to take a break from winning, losing, combat, action, competition and get a little bit creative in a lighthearted gaming world that doesn't have an "end" per se and is more about the journey than the destination. | It is obvious that he had a reference image nearby to ensure that he captured many of the subtle nuances of the original accurately, but what makes you think that it wasn't drawn in a single session? Have you watched any of this artist's other YouTube videos? Most of them are done in exactly the same way, except with charcoal pencil and knead eraser on real paper. This artist is the real deal and this was no computer painting. A computer program would not draw this way. The way in which this entire image was initially generalized and then fleshed out with the detail work is so obviously at the hand of a real artist. Besides, it wouldn't take 2.5 hours for a computer to analyze and realize a photograph. It would have taken less than 5 seconds. You honestly think it would have been as impressive to watch a single image, instantly replicated or "printed" out?
Check out his other video where he draws Marilyn Monroe. He's enormously talented and I think this Mona Lisa image was more of a silly way to demonstrate that despite MS Paint's simplistic toolset and percieved "limitations", a real artist can still achieve impressive results. | | If you watch closely how it was painted, it is obviously hand drawn. A computer program would not paint or draw that way. But rather than have you sit through 2.5 hours of painting, he sped up the video for the sake of brevity. Amazing talent and proof once again that it isn't the tools, but the person that makes the difference in the end. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | In light of the recent SC2 announcement, I have started to play the original Starcraft again. Well, it's just as fun and engaging as it ever was. It's somehow timelessly great. The quirky, stylistic graphics, no matter how seemingly dated, are perfect. A true classic. $10 for it and the expansion is a steal and I can totally understand why it still shows up on the best selling lists. It's been on and off the top 10 lists for years, but I don't think its ever left the top 20. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | Considering that SC2 will probably be going beta within the next 6-12 months, it seems the most likely candidate. With Blizzard North defecting to Flagship Studios and making what will essentially be Diablo 3 in a futuristic setting (Hellgate), I think there is a good possibility that Blizzard's next non-WoW game after SC2 will be a brand new franchise. They haven't introduced a new mythos in almost 10 years now and they've hinted at doing that in the past. Flag this | Edit this post |

| | While possible, do you actually believe that Blizzard would develop Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 simultaneously? Why? All that would do is split development resources making both games take even longer to be released. Now that Blizzard has officially announced Starcraft 2, don't you think that will be their primary non-WoW focus, especially since SC2 is probably going to barely squeak into Beta by this year's end. I'm no ruling out D3 in the future, but for it to already be nearing beta seems highly unlikely to me. Flag this | Edit this post |
