| I mean no offense by this but you clearly don't have any idea of what you're talking about
firstly a 10 year life cycle means that the console stays on the shelves for 10 years, not that they won't release a new console
but in general you accused me of generalising yet that is exactly what you are doing, you are looking at things at an extremely simplistic level where everything is about profit (being a business student I know this to not be true) and that you believe everything is about the short term money gains completely ignoring the slong term
again no offense but you clearly have no clue as to what you are talking about and how things work and i'm not going to sit here and correct everything you say that's wrong, this is once again the point in which I leave the converstion Flag this | Edit this post |

| I have no idea what you're talking about, it's like we were talking about one thing and then out of no where you changed the subject and start talking about something else :/
1. WiiHD won't see that many ports imo because of the controller, and quite frankly I would be surprised to see a 'WiiHD' be as powerful as the PS3/360 qill want something cheap and rely on the wiimote again
2. why do you think that Sony/MS won't make next gen consoles? it's almost as if you don't understand what they mean by a 10 year lifecycle
3. no idea what you're talking about in the 2nd paragraph
4. companies don't make consoles for profits, they get the profits from software sales and peripherals, think the super cheap printers but uber expensive refills Flag this | Edit this post |

| if Nintendo made a console that was more powerful than PS3/360 and still made a profit then why doesn't the PS3/360 which would use less powerful therefore less expensive hardware not make a profit?
imo Nintendo can sit on their hands until the next console generation which will likely be in 2 years Flag this | Edit this post |

| they've released Portal and TF2 at the same time as ep2 and since released L4D1/2 as well as all the TF2 updates it's as if they've abandoned HL, even CS
it's companies like Valve that killed episodic gaming, talking it up without having any clue as to what it actually was or how to use it, I say get the 3rd expansion pack out first, finish that story, story wise the episodes were epic improvements over HL2's storyless story and i'd like to see how they end it
if they do end up doing HL3 it'll be interesting if they decide to make gameplay more engaging, also be interested with the tech, will they make a new engine? if so will it be a proper PC only engine that pushes everything? or something that's designed for PC and 360 like what they've been doing? | | you're putting words in my mouth which is where I leave the conversation, when I said 'artistic' I strictly meant that it was his choice, and you and I are talking different kinds of 3D which is silly as there's only 1 kind of 3D we should be talking about Flag this | Edit this post |

| | to those saying Wii HD would compete with the other consoles, I personally hate the motion controls and would steer clear regardless of graphics, frankly i'm begging that Natal fails so it doesn't get forced into the games I want to play Flag this | Edit this post |

| because those kind of effect are meant more for shock value and to amuse the kids, more of a 'har har har that thing almost hit me' personally i'd find it less immersive if rockets started flying in my face
also i'm sure the 'pop in' thing happened in some scenes like the one where the flowers are floating around, ultimately it's about subtlety Flag this | Edit this post |

| | jacobvandy is right, it's an artistic choice by cameron, my proof? there was a Toy Story ad before Avatar in my viewing that had the whole 'pop out into your face' 3D thing going, looked pretty cool though Flag this | Edit this post |
