| Damn straight! Someone should start an online petition or letter/email campaign.
Hey M$soft You want to secure #1 in this round of the console wars? Scrap the core system (or drop to $199), come out with a version that has an 80GB HD (just to top Sony's 60), build in Wifi, and sell for $449.99 (or bundle in a decent game and extra controller for $499.99)
Hotness.
Or just come out with an 80 or 100GB drive for $100.
I think if Bill just admits his mistake (HD was WAY too small to begin with) and correct it he could PERMANENTLY leave Sony scrambling for 2nd place (fighting off a very capable Nintendo Wii).
Halo 3 alone is going to guarantee him about 4-10 million console sales. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Funny, but not too far from the truth. At first it looked like the 360 made a mistake by launching too early. Now the move looks brilliant as they have a year head start and 2nd generation games (GOW) being compared against first generation Sony games (Resistance).
Between the low production numbers and lack of a blockbuster launch title (give Nintendo credit for launching with Zelda) the 360 will be the market leader for at least the next year.
If Microsoft would have annoucned a $50 across the board price break it could have stolen even more steam from Sony. To me if they really wanted to deliver the knock out blow they could have provided a $100 rebate making their system 1/2 of what Sony's costs. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Truly a loss. Bob was Hugh Heffner, except the babes DIDN'T take off their clothes.
Barker is the institution. He practically MADE the movie Happy Gilmore an instant classic "the price is WRONG B@@ch".
Who else could go like 40 years with the same crappy props and survive? Flag this | Edit this post |

| Hmmm...Sony won't make 2 million consoles? Surprise surprise. If you didn't make the pre-order list, and don't want to spend $1000 on eBay you can expect to get a PS3 sometime in 2008!
Believe it or not I'm REALLY excited for the machine (I tried to make the pre-order list at GameStop but had to work at 10am), but they've making huge blunder after blunder. I was holding off on buying a 360, but if I have to wait until mid-late 07 due to supply issues I may just forget it and wait for the first PS3 price cut spring 2008.
Having high demand for your machine is one thing, but promising something you obviously can't delivery is another. I know they didn't want to 'give up' this holiday season, but that's essentially what will happen anyway when Mommy & Daddy go to buy Jimmy/Susie a PS3 and only find Wii & 360's on the shelves.
Meanwhile M$ofts promise of a 10 million console lead looks to be coming true, and Wii should meet their 4 million goal before PS3 even has 2 million! Plus a $50 price cut in 07 on either the Wii or 360 would give them killer user base. It's funny, but in hindsight M$oft did the right thing by launching early. It totally caught Sony off guard and they've been struggling to play catch up ever since.
For the sake of consumers (and good exclusive PS games) here's to hoping long term Sony can pull even (33% Nex-Gen Market share) but so far they can't seem to pull off the manufacturing. Flag this | Edit this post |

| I disagree entirely.
Clone wars was amazing, and in many respects was better than the three movies. It actually provided some background and character development for those who weren't well developed (Dooku, Grieviuos SP?) in the movies.
I don't think the force powers were overdone, I think they went places that we all knew and WANTED Jedi to go with them (and no, the final Frankenstein scene from Ep III does not count).
If you've seen any of the preview CG for the PS3 Star Wars game (Force Unleashed I think its codenamed) the use of force powers is very close to how they show it in Clone wars. More primal, raw, and over the top instead of constrained. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Looks scrum-dilly-uptious but the story and characters will really tell if this isn't just another ultra pretty shooter (Crysis anyone?).
From what I've read this shouldn't be the case w/ Bioshock.
As next gen comes on consoles and Nvidia v. ATI heats up again games will always look better, but they need to PLAY better or ATTEMPT to bring a great story with a non-cookie cutter characters. Flag this | Edit this post |

| » Firstees Another first! But seriously, they should Lego-ize almost everything. I played Lego Star Wars for the Xbox and it really is a fun little game. Especially playing co-op.
What about Lego-Doom, or a Lego RPG (Lego Oblivion?) Flag this | Edit this post |

| You've hit it right on the head. The problem is not in the features of the PS3 or PSP, (but for the record most consumers-not rabid fanboys- would only consider the HD size a significant upgrade on the 360) its in the price point and perception.
If M$oft lowers 360 to $349 for premium and $249 for regular Sony WILL NOT win the next console wars. M$soft will make its 10 million console headstart, and then its purely academic. Halo 3 will likely sell millions of consoles on its own, let alone when the other Gen 2 and even Gen 3 games come in Late 2007. Unless there are some massive leaps, Sony games won't have a technological advantage over current 360 games until Sony Gen 2 (2008?) I don't care what business you're in, if you give your competitors that big of a head start you can't make up the gap.
Couple this with the fact that initial Blu-ray impressions/reviews are either decidedly negative or ho-hum at best. The HD-DVD add on for 360 will be a much cheaper option. And then Sony has the Wii to contend with for the casual market.
I hate to say it, but besides the PS2 & PS1 the track record hasn't been stellar lately.
To get back to my original point, the perception is the PS3 so far has not provided a measureable jump over 360, costs too much, is hard to develop for. The PSP tries to be all things, but really is only decent at one(playing games). UMD is dying (dead). I almost wish Sony would have waited another year to bake both the PSP & PS3 and really polished the machines so people could see the clear difference. Flag this | Edit this post |

| Hacking didn't exactly hurt PS1 (took over the market), Xbox, or PC's.
On that console side if you made a great game people bought it in droves regardless (despite bootleg copies). Hacking spawned communities that further pushed the console.
Also, don't forget even if you wanted to hack a PS1 or Xbox, you first have to buy one.
By the time a game reaches greatest hits status it further reduces the risk of loss (why risk having your warranty voided & account banned when you can just buy the darn thing for $20 anyway?) Flag this | Edit this post |
